JIm, The loco is a Krupp-Zolly experimental German turbine built in 1928. The pic you posted shows it in its unshrouded state. Check out http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/germturb/germturb.htm for more information.

Here's a pic of how it looked orginally. The shrouding was removed to make maintance easier. The loco was dismanteled in 1940 after it was hit by bomb.

It's one of those old Trix Twin lokies; I can see the motor brushes stiching out of the side of the boiler, just above the drivers.
