ok... The facts:-
N-trak
Standard "Modified" Open Frame 2'X4' Straight Module
"Modified" to allow for a viewable area under the Mainlines
Mainlines go straight across the module

The idea:-
A future city (a'la- Star Wars, Judge Dredd, etc.) with
the mainlines being a "museum" where the trains are a "hologram."
Walking areas to either side of the mainlines.
The "museum" is to be on the 150th, or higher,
top floors.
Two "floors" below is the "skyway;" a high speed rail system WAY above the ground.
The "buildings" in the background start just below the mainlines
by 2" to 3" to give a fill that they are complete.

The problem:-
Should the background buildings be Z scale for forced perspective?
How should the buildings be arranged to give a HUGE city feel?
Should I use a form of the Modular sections as mentioned in the
Jan/Feb 2003 N-Scale (Pgs. 30-32)?
Hmmm.... That's all I can think of now.

Looked at all the books and articles on planning and perspective.
Need an outside look, I'm standing too close. ;)
Your help please, and Thanks.

If you actually build this I GOT TO SEE THAT!!!!! Yeah, I'd use z-scale buildings to force the perspective. You would probabaly have to mock up a few buildings and play around with the placement to get a feel for what's right.

BTW, how did you get ahold of some of my meds???? :D :D :D

And if you build this, Ken, you're gonna HAVE to win the prize for "Most Imaginative Module"!

Charlie- Thanks for the vote. Just wanna
stop a few rocking chairs.;)

Tyson- Thanks for confirming thoughts.
Meds!?
What Meds!?
I'm naturally like this!;) :p :D

By the way...
If everybody will most likely viewing the
module at a downward angle would it
be advantagous to have a persective
angle moving downward to the rear of
the module. See pic below

Oh man - I love it!

From what I've read, buildings and such in the background are usually higher up than the foreground - so that you can't see behind them.

BTW are you going to have any clear plastic tubes (aka hamster runs) as transportation - like on Futurama? It could work!!!:D :D :D

cheers
;) Val

Val-
Yep!
Hamster Tubes... Matter of fact that's what the Skyway is.
A Motorized Hamster Tube. For you see in the future they become
the dominate species.
You thought work was a Rat maze now..... :D ;)

Anyways...
I do plan on the Hi-speed, high over-the-ground, Tube train and
Skyway pedistrain walkways. Hover cars and trucks. Maybe a
BIG robot of two. Gonna give that thread on Future Trains from
way back a complete ring out.

Hi, just got to see some pix of this, could be a very interesting layout
