I was woundering if anyone has used a homemade 3d scanner to create a model and create a working pepakura file.

I was thinking of one of the homemade scanners in general (no specific one)

I created one a while ago with a laser and I remember it created fairly nice 3d models but I'm not sure if they would be clean enough to convert into pepakura

I'm not very artistic but I have lots of ideas....

If anyone has any experience with it please let me know if this could work or if its a waste of time...

Thanks

To you mean a proper 3D Scanner and the software necessary to unfold the model?

This is the main issue with making paper models. I think the scanner is adding an unnecessary step. I see what you re trying do too, but Pepakura is such a crude designing program, though it makes nice stuff, I think a better modelling Program like Rhino3D 5.0 would allow for a more accurate model to be made. It has a higher learning curve, but pays off in the long run. :)
