Thank you all! :thumb:

To Dan: I know what you mean!

Here comes the silver neck. Making the same parts multiple times can be tedious but in this case this is only the beginning of the most enjoyable part of the whole build: stacking the parts and sliding them over the central "spine".

Head's up! ;-) (again!)

Thanks, guys! :thumb:

Well, here comes the head in silver finish! No big descriptions but some shiny pics (prepare your sun glasses    !)

One note concerning the "ears": Since the ink wouldn't stay on the shiny card I had to use card with a different surface. The structure adds a lot to the over-all appearance and gives the parts some additional depth. So using this kind of card was indeed a big plus.

And the rest of the assembly.

Unfortunately the evil, evil flash reveals every uncoloured edge. The whole thing looks way better under natural light.

Next will be the "marriage".

You are all cordially invited to see Crichton to come to life! :thumb:

As I told you, I'll start a new thread on working with metallic paper in the tips section soon.

But first: the final steps in the (re-)creation of Crichton. All parts are ready for final assembly.

Long neck instead of short neck and a walk around.

I have created different visor modes which can be put inside the visor in order to show different moods and activities. The little grey flap is used for pulling the visor image out of the visor to change the expression. I hope you like it!

Crichton LOOKS FAN(FRAKKING)TASTIC!!!
The silver cardstock was a GREAT idea. It really added a "REALISTIC" touch to this model.
On top of all of that, you were able to add changeable visor modes. OUT(FRAKKING)STANDING!!!

KUDOS TO YOU ON A FINE JOB WELL DONE!!!

The adventures of Crichton - a stuck-to-himself robot (... well, sort of ;-) )

Now hear this:

As you might have guessed this thread would not have been complete without some outdoor pics. But this set is different from the ones you have seen from me so far. First, the pics come directly from the archives of Crichton himself. Second, Twiki was the photographer. I asked both for permission to post them here and they agreed - under one condition. Crichton himself wanted to write the comments. Well, I thought that was a small price to pay, and here they come. Enjoy!

Hi, guys!

DSCF0244.JPG

My name is Crichton and I am on vacation.

DSCF0245.JPG

Life on board the Searcher can be rather daunting with all those annoying humans around. When Dr Goodfellow offered me to join him on a scientific exploration mission to Verdanus IX I joyfully jumped into the shutte. I've been on board the big cruiser for much too long and this shore leave gives me the opportunity to finally get some privacy.

DSCF0247.JPG

The planet was colonized by a group of humans two months ago. Do they always have to leave their foot steps anywhere? Thank goodness Twiki was with me whose constant "Biddi-Biddi" chatter caused all the colonists to leave immediately when they saw him coming towards them. I recruited him to take some pictures of my visit.

DSCF0249.JPG

We landed at their camp which consisted of a few barracks, a generator and a tree house for their ... children. My, my, in a few years the whole planet will have been infested with them. How lucky that this misery of having offsprings wouldn't happen to me; I am and will be unique.

DSCF0251.JPG

This is me in front of their sheds. Am I not beautiful?

Actually, the tree house is really nice. Aside from all these midgets constantly running in and out. Hah, beat it now, I am taller than you!
