The first step to a good paint job, no matter what medium you are painting on or with, is Preparation. Plastic and Resin kits and figures need to be cleaned of any and all mold release agents. Seams and ridges filled and filed smooth, then the overall surface cleaned up and as smooth as possible (unless a texture is desired). Paper models will need to be sealed before they are painted, (most paints will soak into the paper and degrade the structure).
