Next post I'll show the decal sheets, one water slide, and one peel and stick.

The decal sheets,
DSCN0661.JPG
Color match experiment, got pretty damn close to the blue,
DSCN0663.JPG
almost exact match for the steel,
DSCN0664.JPG
and so close as to be perfect for the light grey,
DSCN0665.JPG
Then apply a bit of primer to each color to check color match on primed plastic.

Next photos will be color check after the primer dries.

COOL!!!!! About 12 years ago was the last time I built a plastic model. But I'm going to watch this build.
Are you planning to make a diorama for it also? Would be cool to see it in a landing bay with power hoses,
ladder, tool boxes, welder/torches, BB-8 welding something on the bottom, and a "Gonk" unit nearby.

I have no room to display a dio :(
just the kit, and I think I'm gonna build this one with the gear down landed though.

That's what I used to hate with plastic, waiting for the paint to dry....
It's not as bad since I switched to all acrylics. I have a few Liquid Metal colors by AV Vallejo that are alcohol base, and you can smell the alcohol flashing off it with the bottle open.

Painted the blue and grey markings on the wings,
DSCN0682.JPG
and I used the stickers for the stripes...
DSCN0683.JPG
Then you move to fuselage assembly which starts with the cockpit,
DSCN0685.JPG
Then pilot figure painted... 1/72nd is so tiny (yes his butt is glued to a toothpick)
DSCN0684.JPG
Then the instrument panel is painted, and the front panel...
DSCN0686.JPGDSCN0687.JPG
Then the fuselage gets closed around the axis of the wings.

My trusty little cheap ( less than $50 USD) airbrush. Made by Neo, to Iwata specs. Been using this one for going on 10 years now.
DSCN0694.JPG
This one has changeable 1/3 oz (large) and 1/16 oz (small) paint cups. It is gravity feed, which is a godsend to my painting.
DSCN0695.JPG
It came with a .35mm needle and nozzle, but you can get a .5mm needle and nozzle for it if you prefer a wider spray pattern.
DSCN0697.JPG
I use a cheap Harbour Freight airbrush compressor to power it.
