I purchased two of these critters.
One from a shop I do business with
and the other from a show.

Both make a screeching noise at slower
speeds. I have never had a problem
like this with Atlas. Is it something wrong
with this production?

I also did give them a drop of lubricant
But it doesn't seem to help.

Anyone else have these types of problems?
 
You might want to contact ATLAS about this. If they were bought new they are under warranty yet.
 
Mine has no problems, but is very slow. In fact, it's so slow it's hard to hook up with. I usually team it up with a dash 8, but now I will team her with a SD60M.
 
I e-mailed Atlas several days ago and yet to have a reply. I guess I am use to Kato getting back right away on a couple of problems I had with some of their engines over the last 6 yrs.
 
Wow, I'm responding to a post that's more than 5 years old. Anyway ... did you ever resolve the screeching problem with your SD-50's? I'm having the exact same trouble with my B40-8 and I'm anxious to fix it without having to send it back to Atlas.
