London Port Stanly had three box motors L1, L2, L3.

In this Picture we see all three as they began there Railway life.

A rare shot and one I know will delight the traction fan


Where are they now???????

Halton Radiel Museum have one.
Elgin Museum have one.
Who has the third?????

Chris:
I can't trace L3 at all. I haven't worked through the Trackside Guide completely yet. I have a book on the L&PS (Les Torrens) but there is not much mention of equipment disposition. He does have a plan of L1 and a few other pieces.

I am of to Colberg this morning to a small railway show , will delve into LPS L3 this afternoon.
I`m sure I have some info some where.

The demise Of L3

Hi David and all those intrested in the L&PS

L3 was in a head on collision with Express car E 1 in the 50s.
Never rebuilt

According to my Books L3 had a collision Head on into coach #10 Oct 19th 1918 and thirteen days earlier L3 was involved in another accident

This photo is in a book by the late Les Torrens. It's the October 19, 1918 collision. (Hope reproduction is OK)
Note the reason for anticlimbers.

Hi David, I have Les Torrens bookVolume 2.
Great info book.
Do you know if Leslie Torrens is still around??
I sent him a letter last year , I was trying to buy some of the old Advertisments he had for sale, But I got nothing back
I also have two Videos of the L&PS.
Am I a lucky guy or what

Sorry to report, but Les died in 2000. All his equipment was sold off. I met him a few times; he was a founder of The Buffers http://www.geocities.com/the_buffers/
and the Platelayers had joint meetings with them.
I have the 3 volumes of the L&PS book -- he took them back and made them into one large volume. Also have a book of plans that he made.
He was a printer.

That`s a shame, but having read his "stuff" and watched videos that Mr Torrens was very involved with, that tells me he had a very fruitfull Life.
He must been a very intresting Gentleman to talk to.
