1/12 Apollo Command Module

Another model update that has not yet reached assembly, but took a fair amount of time to find accurate and render. I decided to make a full-fledged pasting with tape of the entire externally cladding, with the maximum imitation of thermal tape. The imitation itself will not be made of aluminum tape, but will be made of a self-adhesive mirror film.
If I do not like the test result, then I will look for other solutions for the mirror surface of the outer skin.

I also tried to paint the thermal shield, but I really did not like the result. The stripes that imitate the honeycomb are almost invisible.

After looking through a huge number of photos with the installation of the command module on the service module, everywhere the shield is painted in white, and I decided to paint everything in white.

But I will add technical holes to it, those that weren't included by Ken.

I accidentally broke it after painting and had to be reassembled.

For good reason, this whole part needs to be completely redone, since the mechanism does not fit very well with the ring, but I will probably leave it as it is, or maybe assemble it again, but a little later. Honestly, this is one of the most difficult parts in the model. First, it was done without calculating the thickness of the paper. I got the impression that Ken did it in a hurry and did not pay due attention to the development.

Started the last wall of the crew compartment. In general, everything is going to easily, and there is nothing special about it.

But I decided to improve the fire extinguisher, since it was not at all like the one that was installed in the module. I found photos and tried on the basis of what is to recreate the most similar.

So I am back from vacation and continue to build.

In one of the space model groups in FB, I came across the assembly and refinement of Ken's model from Luk Rombauts. He kindly shared his improvements and developments.
True, he has no instructions, he has to collect from photographs.

I completely abandoned the seats provided by Ken, since they are not at all similar to what was in the command module. Luk has made the seats as faithful as possible, but they are significantly more difficult to assemble and have amazing detail. At the moment, very little has been built, but it already looks like a seat.
