    Build a table saw?

Not to beat the tar out of this thing but, I've cut on foam board, self healing mat, my desk top and a wooden cutting board. I've read where some use a straight edge and an 11 in their knives. I dunno???

    Build a table saw?

Is there a trick to this thing? I tried 1/32 balsa and basswood. It's design and approach is so simple a house trained chimp could use it, but me, I make splinters?

    fiber optics

Fibre optics seem like a better choice for traffic lights, headlights and places where the laser intense leds are too bright to be proto. I've seen too many EMS, fire and Police cars with sunbright lights. Just my opinion.

    Super Sized HO

A switching layout south of Calgary. I drive by frequently but have yet to see it operating. There's an engine house, big one, station and tracksides. Everything is kept in top shape. Can't imagine the work involved in re-furbishing all of it plus all the heavy machinery needed to life and move...

    Fill in the blanks, Please

I think I get it but if you would just spare me a moment here. The reason I asked is that I see a lot of things lke 'this structure is for my HOn... " and I wondered if the HO sized structure has the same dimensions as an HOn.... Because if they are, there are some things I've seen done to...

    Fill in the blanks, Please

    I know (fairly certain) that... Z 1/220 N 1/160 T 1/120 HO 1/87 OO 1/76 S 1/64 O 1/48 UK O 1/43 G 1/22.5 Most confusing are all the n suffixes. What do they mean, and should I fear them? HOn3 = Sn2 HOn30 = On30 = Sn3½ - same as HO Sn3 Sn2 = HO It looks to me like the suffix gauges are...

    Build a table saw?

Betcha a guy with a dremel cable drive, soldering and brass skills could cobble together a pretty decent 'table saw' to rip store bought basswood sheets into 1/32 x 1/16 strip wood if he had "miniature tempered saw blades are ultra-thin at only .005" thickness" from...

    Amish Barn Raising

I just caught up with this thread and I'm left wondering how commercial wood manufacturers strip 2"x 3" and larger basswood slabs into 1/32 x 1/16 wide x 24" strips, without making sawdust out of profit. Thickness planner and vibrating ganged cutting knives, Skiving and peeling like plywood...

    It was cheap, that's why.

I had no idea these issues were available, and at the PC club to boot. Wow! Engine 6060 runs out of Stettler AB, 1 1/2 hrs from Calgary. It's next. I've Googled till I can't ogle and can't find out... Is the large cylinder atop the nose a sand box? Is the loco an oil burner? Does the tender...

    It was cheap, that's why.

I got the PC Big 10 express 2 -10-2 for a handful of beans. But, what is it. What are the hoppers and why are they brick red?

    temperature to bake on paint

We painted our 55 Chev 2 door post at 2 AM and then built up the woodstove until it glowed so the car would sorta dry by 8 am so we could tow it to the strip. What? Paint and thinner fumes, closed environment, open flame. Nah, wouldn't happen.

    Junk Yard Progress Pictures

I count seven cylinders. Just kidding. Your process is unique because it would work in all scales and it's incredibly realistic. The use of tin plate manipulated to replicate solid steel panels is genius. I love looking at them.

Ambitious for a first scratch, I think.

I feel like a first grader with another 'art' project to hang on the fridge. Everyone knows this but, get a Chopper, the best you can afford. I wasted a lot of energy with repetitive measuring, using balsa, too soft, not uniform, and with pastie windows on label paper, they look yukky. This is...

Ambitious for a first scratch, I think.

Well, it's gonna be HO! No one in this area serving almost 1.7 million carries N specialty, like doors & windows. Oh they can get it, in a month, special order. So, I'm goin' HOme! Same building but 1/87 !
