How to change address when Digitrax Zephyr doesn't work

I saw on a forum some time ago how to change the address of a loco when Zephyr didn't work. It was something like hooking a wire across the rails of the programming track. I did not keep the instructions and need to do it again. It was a Bachmann loco. It worked what ever I did. Anyone on...

MRC Sound Decoder for Kato SD70MAC

Had the same problem with MRC and got basically the same response from them. The problem is not necessarily speaker size. I have 4 Kato E8's with Digitrax SoundFx decoders in them and they are 100% better. Speakers are the same size. I also have 2 BRI E8's that came with Paragon2 sound...

    MRC 1645 sound decoder problem

I have installed a MRC 1645 sound decoder in a Kato E8 n scale loco. The sound is very low. You can barely hear it over the normal track noise. Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem is? I have a BLI E8 with Paragon2 sound that blows the MRC out of the water. I am just disappointed...

    MRC 1645 sound decoder

I have just installed a MRC 1645 sound decoder in my Kato E8. I was rather disappointed at the quality and volume (mainly the volume) produced. My Broadway Paragon2 E8's blow it out of the water when it comes to volume. Does anyone know of a way to increase volume on these decoders? Jim

    Kato passenger cars

I have a set of Kato passenger cars that were produced about 2000 or a little earlier. Problem is that they uncouple at will. I understand that Kato came out with replacement couplers due to the fact they were defective. I didn't know about this until recently. Naturally, now they are no...

    Atlas snap switches

    yellow tape on decoders

These are plug n play. The tape is on the end opposite where the light shroud is. I think it is to protect from possible heat and short on the frame. Digitrax tech support said the manual should tell whether to remove it or not. The manual does not address it at all. I figure that if they...

I am installing Digitrax decoders in my SD35's. I noticed that there is yellow tape on one end of the decoder. Is that supposed to remain on the decoder? This is the first time I have installed decoders. The instructions said nothing about leaving it.

I had a Con-Cor bay window caboose with the same issues. I can tellyou that the underside is one complete molded piece in metal. The only way I see to resolve the issue is to grind out the area. I tried with NO success. It was disheartening. Good luck! Hope someone can come up with a...

Thanks for all your help. I am using SPDT switches ( I could have used SPST) My problem was I forgot that the center pole on a DT switch carried the power and I was trying to wire it like a SPST. I knew there was some simple solution. Everything was right except that. One little mistake can...

    Block wiring

David, I would like to use only one power pack. Would the setup be the same? When you say "the other end of the toggle goes to the track" do you mean the individual blocks? I am a little confused as to what to do with the wire for the common rail. I am just wanting to be able to shut off...
