    A Resurection of Sorts

Wow, it's been a while, but I'm back, and once again I'm in need of some help with my trains. A long time ago, I purchased a TYCO Chattanooga 638 2-8-0 and I asked if it was worth working with: http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163494 Well, a little over a year and a half later...

    Photography Game?

My ALCo RS-32 on her very first assignment, two hours after she arrived on the Riverside Railroad, which itself was only a year and a half old at this point: Here's a better pic:

    Digitrax or NCE?

Well, I made my choice: the NCE PowerCab it is! I got it ordered yesterday and should be here by Thanksgiving, just in time to install it. A question though: How easy is it to wire the NCE set to alternate DCC/DC control? What I mean is, can I have it so I can just plug in a wire for DCC, then...

The light at the end of the tunnel

Well, Bugs Bunny would have to use it, since everything ACME made that he uses works just fine. It's everyone else that ACME products fail to work for (well, except Roadrunner and/or Bugs Bunny if Wily is using it to try and catch them)

    Photography Game?

Boxcars? Here's the best pic of my Atheran 60th Aniversary RTR boxcar that I've ever taken IMO: and if it needs to be on the layout if it's a model: So: a boxcar, WSOR unit, or a new one: any units done up for special occasions and/or reasons!(if that last one is legal by the rules...

I'm pretty sure that this reefer is related to the NYC, that "early bird" logo has New York Central written on it:

    Digitrax or NCE?

Hmmm, from what you guys seem to be telling me, I should go with MRC or NCE instead of Digitrax's Zephyr for starting my DCC system and for the most part don't factor in the DC running ability for the sake of the engines. Thing is, I'm not sure all ten of my current engine roster can ever make...

    Photography Game?

Let me take a crack at it, shall I? My C&O BL2 #1845 visiting another HO scale layout; John Listerman's Christianson, Cynthianna and Thomasville branch of the B&O So, a BL2, C&O or B&O unit, or anything with the number 1845.

The light at the end of the tunnel

Wait, are we moving TOWARDS the light to fix it or are we moving AWAY from it? I have no clue what you guys are even doing now.:p

    Digitrax or NCE?

The time has come for the upgrade to DCC, but I can't decide between the Zephyr or the Power Cab sets, so I ask you gurus which ones you think fit my needs better. My needs: -expansion friendly (4X8 is only the beginning for the Riverside Railroad) -walkaround ability -compatability with DC...

    Worth Saving?

Yep, the old TYCO still runs. Nosily and not well over my insulated switch frogs, but other than that it's a pretty good runner to be honest. If the tender drive can't be saved I've been wondering if a NWSL switcher engine replacement might be a good choice. Squidbait: I know that the...

The light at the end of the tunnel

So if the light is getting reflected off a wrecking ball, where is the source?

    Worth Saving?

I got some 2-8-0 from a train flea market for $15 last weekend, and from what I've learned/know this is that: -It's a tender driven TYCO steamer with a good-condition body shell -It's lettered as #638 for the Chattanooga, maybe part of a TYCO Chattanooga Choo Choo set from the late 70's...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

My newest aquisitions: a TYCO 2-8-0 tender drive (yes, I know TYCOs are big time failures, but this baby's got prospects for me) and a Bachman 2-6-2 Union Pacific (Brand new for only $20!):

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] - Part VI

Hey guys, sorry I've been away for such a long while, life caught up and, well, you know the rest. Anyways, thanks to a chain of events caused by a complete misunderstanding, I now have these two beauties (the engines, not the robots):

    On Track, with Deano

I got the term "SOO Bandits" from an Athearn ad in MR for their MP15AC's or a similar looking model, which had an image of one Milwaukee Road schemed switcher with scant black lines all over it with "SOO LINE" on said lines, and they were refered to as "Bandit" scheme MP's. And I agree that 1501...

    On Track, with Deano

You should put this in your sig, Deano, to show the world!:p Those are some amazing B/A shots Deano, you almost perfectly nailed the angle for #4053 in both those shots! Oh, by the way, what's that other engine coupled up to the nose of #4025 anyways? Is that one of those Soo "Bandit"...
