    steamer mtc.

Looks like you have no alternative other than to pop the bodies off and check stuff. The only possibilities are electrical intermittency, gear binding or a bad decoder. If the wheel contact wipers are clean and the wiring to the motor and decoder are all pull proof, it has to be binding...

    maximum grade

I have too many grades that are a bit extreme and have to double head as a matter of course. My Shays, Climaxes and Heislers have no problems going anywhere I have laid track. Some of it is quite badly laid but the geared locos seem to have no problem. I say badly laid, no short equipment...

    Pink Foam Portal - Tutorial

This is the Portal Tutorial project which is entirely the work of fellow Gauger Shaywen. She designed, built and documented the 2 Portals shown in the following pictures. This tutorial is on our web site and wasn't posted to the Gauge because she didn't think it was that useful. I guess if any...

    Turntable

There's a lot of things about Atlas stuff that people dislike but the bottom line is their stuff works! There was an article in MR that showed how an Atlas turntable was set low in the baseboard and a proper looking turntable was built on top. The guy liked the fact that the Atlas indexing was...

    Foam vs Foam

I suspect there are a few Californians that would find the concept of 'Saving thousand$ on a years heating bill' difficult to understand. Some may have no idea what a heating bill is. Not a lot of call for high R factor products. The pink and blue stuff is way more versatile than the white...

    Wiring help PLEASE

I have to agree with David, you have 2 power packs and 2 locomotives so there is no reason not to have proper 2 cab control. It will cost you a few switches and an evening with a soldering iron but you will be able to run 2 trains anywhere at the same time. Dividing your layout into blocks...

DCC or DC to power trains

Hardly a cheap or easy way to run trains but I do have to mention computer controlled DC as no one else has. Most of the advantages of DCC I & II can be achieved with computers and relays. DCC III is another matter but will we be allowed to have it? A DC toggle switch systems only allows 2...
