Thank you all so much, I´m just happy with the end result, glad you liked it too!
I am also attaching a build picture I left out, just to show that I actually built the red tag seal too! :-)
To Rhaven Blaack: Thank you! :-) Really! If you think people would be interested I can surely turn it...
Here it is side by side with the original picture found on the Internet that inspired my to get this project going in the first place! From flat picture to a real thing! Well, it makes me very happy!
Hope you like it! :)
...here is the end result!!! A finished watch with box!
Every little thing is made of paper (except for the dial glass), the certificates, the booklet, the leather folder, the red seal tag, even the strings and threads, I just LOVE papercraft! :)
I then whent on to build a very complicated inlay for the bottom part of the box, just because I wanted it to look like the real thing. Took some time to make everything fit like I had imagined (and not done any blueprints for). Why make it simple when you can make it hard? :)
Anyway, after a...
And then there was the watch box! Made a quick design of what I had guessed would be a quick build.
But, oh no! It was quite hard to make the design go from thought to paper to folding.
Started with the lid, and after a while I actually made it all fit together! :-)
Also did an inlay to the lid...
Then it was time for the glass cover, because I wanted that on my watch! :) Well, plastic anyway.
I cut out a small piece from the date part of a duplicate dial and then used that to make a very small plastic piece, made from laminate plastic, that I put between two bigger pieces of laminate...
So, I decided to make my own Rolex watch from paper with a nice classy Rolex box to keep it in!
My design and idea for the watch itself is based on the Fauxlex papercraft watch by Matthew Nicholson, however I have changed so many details (and dimensions) that it feels like a brand new design...
Thank you all!!
vulcan8630: Working on more props, might post in RPF when I have some more stuff to show! :)
Rhaven Blaack: New Years 2015! Great idea! Will think about it! :)
Revell-Fan: I am actually working on a diorama/display from the whole trilogy, so maybe... :)
...except for a tag that I just put there for clarity since I guess there must be some people that haven´t seen the BTTF trilogy (no, really, there must be some, right)!
Anyway, at least the finished cap looks similar to the one in the move, so I´m happy with it!!
Hope you like it! :)
I printed the back of the paper black before I cut the parts except for the front part (the sun visor or whatever it´s called). It shouldn´t be shiny according to movie stills I saw online so I just printed it to look like kind of a rainbow! :)
I have been gone from this site for about half a year due to work, work, work!
Now I am very happy to be back again! :)
Time for a new build! The shiny cap from BTTF II worn by Marty McFly in 2015!
I found images of the cap from all angels and just used the duck cap papercraft...
Whatever time it will take, the end result is surely worth waiting for!
I for one think this whole site transfer-rebuild-redesign-thing is very refreshing!
Thank you to all the people working on improving this wonderful site! :-)
Thank you! I hope you are right! :-)
To Rhaven Blaack;
Thanks a lot! My friend has to like it! :-)
The gift was a succes! I know it was "just" pieces of paper I gave him on his birthday, but he really wanted to get the actual toy and had not been succesful as it was to...
