    ITS HERE......Drum Roll Please!

Great issue. Thanks to all who contributed and put it together. Are these going to be archived, so that we can refer back to them years down the road?

    Caboose?

I will throw in ARCHES, the American Railway Caboose Historical Educational Society, Inc., based in St. Louis, MO, but with members in 42 states of the US and 3 Canadian Provinces. The organization's slogan is "Don't let the END, END! Now is when the END justifies the means to preserve it."...

    OK, whadja get??

No model stuff here (but I didn't ask Santa for any, either); but I got three RR books that I wanted, plus a nice calendar. That's the RR stuff, but I got a nice shirt and some other goodies, too. Guess I was a pretty good boy this year.

train derailment between CA and LA?

In fact, UPS is one of, if not THE biggest intermodal shipper the railroads have. I just recently read an article about it; but don't remember the magazine (I get so many), but perhaps someone else does.

    Merry Christmas

As usual, someone beat me to the punch, but a Very Merry Christmas to all on The Gauge; and, while I'm at it, best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year, too.

    Toronto Union Station

Val: I know the whole mess is involved in politics; but I'm not sure you and I are talking about the same project, as I had not heard about artifacts being stolen etc. In any case, I agree that we should support the saving of the Roundhouse and all the rest.

    Toronto Union Station

Chris and all: If anyone interested will pm or email me, I will send the address of one of the "kingpins" of the Toronto Railway Historical Association, which is just in formation. I don't want to post it publicly without his permission, however.

    A present from Grandson William

I saw some print of paintings by Larry Fisher (I think that's the name) of Toronto Union Station at night and the John Street Roundhouse at the Royal Winter Fair, but I didn't see any photos like that one. We're still going to be here for a few more days, so maybe I can take another look.

    Toronto Union Station

Great pix, especially since I am currently visiting in Toronto. I presume you "locals" know there is a group trying to put a rail museum in the existing roundhouse and also one in Union Station. As I understand things, it's all wrapped up in city politics, unfortunately.

    Visit to Toronto

Thanks to both Chris and Robin for the answers. Maybe I'll run into you or some other Gaugers there; but I don't have a badge or pin to identify me. Oh well, as I said, I'm not exactly sure when I will be there, but it will likely be Sunday. How long I stay will depend on what I find there of...

    Visit to Toronto

We're in Toronto and it is Friday 5:10 pm as I write this. Would someone please let me know the hours of the Hobby Show? I will probably go on Sunday, but might tomorrow, depending on the rest of our schedule. Thanks.

    Visit to Toronto

We are not showing horses at the Fair this year, although we have in the past. We're into the big horses - Clydesdales. We are driving up today (Thursday) and I will have a car available pretty much the whole time we're in town. My wife and sister-in-law will probably spend most of their...

    Visit to Toronto

We will be in Toronto November 4-14 for our annual visit to the Royal Winter Fair. Maybe sometime during that period we could arrange a Gauge get together. I can be reached at the Holiday Inn on King; and, of course, will have my computer with me for email.

    Revenue East!

Revenue East Great picture, Brian. Just out of curiosity, I'm not familiar with the area, but what was your "photographic vantage point"? It looks like it might have been taken from an overpass or ??? Thanks.

    Wahoo! Entering the four-digit club!

While I'm not near the four digits, I will add my thanks for a great forum, not only for model railroaders but just plain rail nuts like me.

    Do You........

I plan to use DCC on my, as yet unbuilt, Housatonic & Cayuga. Having seen it in operation and used it a bit, it just seems like the way to go, especially on a new layout.

    Happy Bday Spitfire

I don't usually bother with birthdays here on The Gauge; but I just had to add my best wishes to Val, as she is one of the few Gaugers I've met in person.

    UP in King of Prussia

Nice pix. From what I've seen myself plus the reports of others, UP units seem to be getting rather ubiquitous all over the east. Hmm. Is this a portent of things to come?

    First Gauge BBQ

I, too, had to miss the great event and will eagerly await some pictures (of course someone DID take some, didn't they?). Sounds like you all had a great time. Maybe I can make the next one.
