That looks awesome! I might just do that myself and cut off the "legs". We'll see. Thanks for the tip! -Ski

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

Thanks! I haven't made much headway this week. I did start building up the ship's boats, but that's about it. I recieved my laser-cut railings yesterday and was playing around with it this morning. I tried taking it off the sprue and painting it, I also painted it on the sprue, which...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

Hey folks! I modded the top of the superstructure by cutting off the top of the "box" and added a lip around the top of the deck. I will paint the interior later. It looks a lot better! I painted and installed the mast as well as added the panel that was missing from each side of the...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

I didn't know that the 93 version wasn't a revision. Interesting. I would say that the No. 3 version is half-gloss at most. It is really thin stuff compared to what I am used to using. That makes me nervous as it would be prone to warping, and that is bad.....very bad. Thanks for your...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

My version is the earlier No. 3 model. It's got a fair share of mistakes, but none that will be a show stopper. However, I would recommend you get the 1993 model as I'm sure it is a vast improvement over mine. I took mine to a copy place and I'm happy I did. The card stock is thin to say...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

Awe, you guys are just saying that to make me feel good, hehehe.... Thanks for your kind comments. :thumb: I'm going to cut off the top of the structure to make it a platform like it is supposed to. It's funny how some companies interpret a structure completely erroniously. I should...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

Argh!! I worked on the bridge superstructure and the upper portion looks like garbage IMHO. The fit was pretty lousy. At least the mast fit through it nicely. I enlarged the holes on the way up so I had a fighting chance with that at least. Oh well.... I am soon on my way to working the...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

I pretty much finished the funnels, except for painting the grills black, and added another layer to the superstructure. I also edged everything. So, making good progress and the ship is starting to finish out. I do the turrets last. It keeps me from skipping the small stuff...

    Halinski 1:200 HMS Hood Build

Thanks for the comments. I think that is why I am really enjoying card models. You don't have to take a dremel to them to get what you want. The medium is extremely forgiving if you give it a chance. A trim here, a cut there and you have made up for quite a few design errors. -Ski

The superstructure is going together pretty well. The aft structure's roof is the worst fit by far!! Not even close. No problem, really. I used the stock from the masts to fabricate a new roof. -Ski
