Erie, EL, and EL+W model info

Hi all, as I have said I am getting back int MRR after a long break. I want to do the Erie, EL and EL+W roads, apparently they all shared trackage at one time or another. I am looking for any model info I can get on these roads. I have seen a few loco's and some rolling stock but there is...

    Building layout,, order?

I hear you guys, I need to do hidden staging work too. The layout is small and it will be easy to get the track perfected first than move on. Thanks Tony

    Another DCC ?

Yeah Dave, I just want to be able to run 2 at the most, just want to be able to have other loco's on the tracks at the same time and be able to run them when required. At this size I can't get too carried away. Tony

    Ok size???

Thanks Triplex, Yes the layout must operate too> I am still drawingup layouts and trying to resist the temptation to put too much trackage down. It's just that in such a small space I do want to build as realistic as possible. Tony

    Building layout,, order?

Yeah I guess I can do it that way just cover the track with something, like you say the ballast and road bed should be done so scenery can be run up to it. can't wait to get going on this, gonna be a while though, have to finish one model first,, tear the room apart and go back to work so I...

    Few more questions

Yeah I know, I am goint to have over a foot of space between the two, so I can reach back there. I just hope that in a 48 inch run I can get enough grade going down just for the train to clear. Thanks Tony

    Another DCC ?

Thanks Andrew I will check out that link!, and the forum.. How does the wiring get more complicated? I would think it'd be simpler? I only want to run 2 trains at a atime but want to leave loco's on the track idle too. Damn they don't make vertical liftoff loco's?? ^_^ Tony

    Building layout,, order?

Hi all, I have seen many articles on building layouts and I see that most guys lay track and get it running bare before adding scenery and groundwork?? As I military modeler who builds small vignettes and diorama's I usually do all the ground work and scenery and then place the model and...

    Another DCC ?

OK I hope I have it now... With DCC you can run any amount of Loco's independently? IN any direction? At any time? Since the Loco's are directed by the internal chip instead of the track. The track only supplies power so no need for all kinds of wiring per section? Thanks Tony

    Ok size???

yes Yeah I know what you mean. I am going to go with 24x48 and a 12"widex24"long yard running off the left side outer loop. In the back of the outer track turnout and run it down to staging and back up again. I don't really need the staging since I will have the yard but.. I can't keep...

    Layout confined by walls??

Yeah I will do that, keep the bench under the layout, I am going to run staging tracks down onto it from the back of the layout and I can still use the bench for storage and a place to put my coffee. Tony

    Dcc??

I will look into how much equipment is available for the EL in DCC and how many are convertable too. Tony

    Few more questions

Thanks David, I don't think I am going to go with too much of a grade, just want one higher track on the back of the layout, maybe a trestle or 2 I am also trying to figure in a way to get trains off and back on from a staging area under the layout base. I think I am going to put two turnouts at...

    Layout confined by walls??

Thanks Jet, You have a good idea there, I think I am going brain dead. The only thing is I need the bench in this room so I have a place to work, and store my modeling stuff, books etc... Tony

    Layout confined by walls??

The N scale layout I am planning on is going on my modeling workbench as I have mentioned elsewhere. The bench will be relocated. It is in a very small room no more than a large closet. that is 55"x 9 feet so picture the bench on one of the narrow ends of the room.. with the layout being...
