It's been a while, but finally I have found some time again to work on my SCUD-launcher. Exams are over and work / study time seems to be settling down in a nice flow, so expect more updates soon. I have been working on the wheel suspension for some time. After modelling the first four...

    New to card models

Welcome to the game :) When it comes to advice on paper models, I am afraid I need to ask you a question first. What do you like? Buildings, airplanes, sci-fi, vehicles, ships, etc. I guess pretty much anything you can imagine can be done as a paper model, starting from very simple with just a...

Hehehe :-) the remains of the car were sold, unfortunately including a CD I couldn't reclaim. But I have a better car now (I already planned to get one, but the crash kinda made it necessary to put my plans into practise a bit sooner than anticipated) and my health is back to normal again, no...

A short update because it's been silent in this thread for a while :-) I haven't abandoned the project, but with my new job and studying for three upcoming exams, I simply don't have time to build :-( As soon as I have something new to report, I'll make sure to do so :-)

So far so good! Great work. I like what you did to the base. I should've thought of that as well :-) Would be cool if you'd open your own building thread so we can follow your progress :-D

@Rick Thanks xD @Sticks So where are the pictures? xD Thanks for the Hamburger Michel tip, it sure looks like something I want to try (when I am fed up with my current project ;))

Hey Sticks, I am glad my log is helpful for you, and I am excited that you will build this great model too :) I do hope you'll keep up updated with progress pictures! As for me, I completely agree with you about building logs being helpful. I am working on the SCUD launcher by Modelik...

I did manage to get it kinda working, so I am satisfied for the moment. I think later on I might look into strengthening the part that caused me so much trouble (perhaps removing it and redoing it on thicker cardstock instead of the doubled paper). Anyways... due to the new job consuming...

@Zathros I'll keep an eye out for myself :) So far nothing serious has been detected on X-ray though, so I am hopeful nothing major will happen. And now for some more building pics. I haven't been able to do as much as I hoped, my new job and the car crash paperwork consuming most of my time...

    New Here, Have Some Questions

Welcome to the forums :) When it comes to glue, I use about 5 different kinds at the moment. For regular glueing wood glue (the basic white PVA glue without solvent, i.e. on water basis. I don't know about hot glue... I think that might be a literal pain to work with when you need to glue...

A new day, a new update. When I read back in this thread, I realized I planned to name all the building groups I was using. I will post an overview pic of all those groups when the steering system is done, but till now I have built group 1 (frame) and groups 2 - 14 (steering system). Group 15...

Thanks @Zathros and @Milan :) Unfortunately I haven't been able to do as much as I planned. There are two reasons for that, one good, one bad. The good reason is that I finally have a job after being jobless for over two years. The bad reason is that on my way to work on my first day (last...

Heya :) Time for another update. I have been trying to understand the steering rods today, and I think I finally understand what I should be doing. I have been working most of the day on just a few parts, hoping everything will fit in the end, because it seems to me that some angles of the...

And another update :) After finishing the chassis, it's time to concentrate on the parts of the steering system. Since the kit is meant to be built steerable, I have a great many movable parts to figure out and build. The diagrams are helpful, as long as you allow yourself to stare at them for a...

And yet another small update, with the remaining parts of building group 1. They kinda annoyed me, because after my optimism yesterday regarding rolling the tubes, todays tubes turned out to be naaaasty, in more than one way. First of all, the strip of paper was too long, making the tubes too...

Another small update :) I have been working on the parts 1p, 1r and 1s (1q doesn't exist). I strongly recommend to build these before putting 1l - 1o in place, as they come directly beneath the latter ones (I have marked 1l - 1o with an arrow). Rolling the tubes turned out to be extremely easy...

I finished the work on the first part of the chassis, and did encounter the problem silveroxide mentioned. The drawings aren't very clear on how to proceed. For future builders, I have included a sketch of how to attach the reaaaaaaaaally long strips to the chassis. Next up will be...

Just a short update this time, because I am still working on building group 1 (the chassis), which turns out to be more work than expected. On the other hand, if I'd just do it fast and make mistakes now, I will have a lot of problems with the other parts later xD Right now I have cut out...
