Question, which Kiln enclosure to model?

You read my mind. That is going to look very nice. I like the way you extended the stacks from the kilns right thru the roof.

    Something like this

I am working on my trackplan, and I like this plan, I found it from a link on someone's sig here on the forum. This is the same size and shape as my benchwork. My problem is I don't have a scanner to scan in my plans. I plan on a coalmine, a small quarry, and maybe a small town. Any ideas? I...

Question for Nov 16/17 Choose from column A or B...

I guess it would depend on what I had to run it/them on. If I needed a set of engines to haul a heavy coal train to the top of the mountain, then 2 good DCC with sound, but if I just needed one nice passenger engine...

Would the wye be far enough away from the town and branch so it wouldn't seem cramped? If so, it's a good idea.

Question, which Kiln enclosure to model?

Kyle, I notice where you were modeling when I clicked on your link to get a better idea of the use of the kilns, great pics, beautiful work! I am still new to this, hopefully I will have something going soon. I think I have an O gauge Wyandotte Chemical tank car in with my stuff somewhere, even...

Question, which Kiln enclosure to model?

OK, I say go with Factory 2, but the factory 1 colors, (you live in Troy, which means you have been over the I-75 River Rouge bridge, paint it like the Rouge complex steel mill rust red) and add the factory 3 skylights in the second floor to let some light in. Plus when the 'hot work' is going...

    Airbrush

My wife asked me for x-mas ideas the other day, and I told her I wanted an Airbrush. Now I have to tell her what kind of airbrush. I was looking at the Badger model 350-7. Does anyone have any helpful airbrush info? What brands are better? Canned propellant or mini compressor? Paint...

    What glue?

The model I got is a Cornerstone one made from Styrene. I went to the LHS and picked up a tube of Plastruct Plastic Weld. Says it works on ABS, Styrene, Butyrate, and Acrylic. It has an orange label, this might be the one you are referring to Charles. What is CA?

    What glue?

OK, so I am new to this and just got my first model, the New River Mining Company. Anyone have any glue brand suggestions or favorites? Is Testors fine, or is there a certain brand everyone likes that I should know about? Thanks for all the great info.

    Son came home Monday.

Hang in there Michael, all will sort itself out. It may take some time, but it will. Congrats on him coming home. I myself have a 3 week old son, and I can't imagine the stress you are going thru. Every noise he makes, and I am standing over his cradle staring at him...

    Canyon model

Sorry, no pics, but I thought I would put in my .02 anyways. The 3D version you did looks real good, I think it's a great idea. I have the same situation as a few others. I am starting my benchwork, so now I want to figure out how I can fit something like that into it...

    track code

Thanks for the info. Like I said, I got Codes 83 and 100 when I got my HO, and it's all Atlas Flex Track. I like the Flextrack. I am going to stick with it. I'll figure out which track to stick with later. Maybe use the Code 83 on mainline areas for the brown ties, and the Code 100 in the...

    On30 Logging Track Plan

    track code

So you are saying that Code 83 is .083 TAll measured from the top of the tie? And Code 100 is .100" tall? So there is a .017" difference? I was wondering the same thing, because the guy I got my stuff from had both kinds of track.

    New Guy

I have been lurking around, reading for awhile, and I finally joined this past week, just thought I would say HI! I am currently working on some benchwork that I adopted when a family friend relocated and couldn't take it with him. Nothing huge, just a 4X8 table with some HO track and a...
