Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] - Part VII

Lester, I have a pretty good idea where you are located. We had a place in Swan Keys, Del. for 10 years. That is just outside of Fenwick Island on Rte 54. Used to commute just about every weekend, that got old after a while. Are you going to have a knee replaced, if you mentioned it I must...

Lester, We have the same weather here. Think it covered a pretty big area. Pretty busy day planned for tomorrow, ending with a semiannual doctors appointment. Hope I can fit in an hour or so at the fitness center. Have been neglecting that lately because of time constraints and back pain...

Jim, Wife and I both have Toshiba's. We also like them. Only problem I have had is with mine, the network jack gives me problems on occasion, if you connect and disconnect them a lot, this is a weak link in any laptop.

How about running that bagger up this way and cleaning up my lawns. My back hasn't recovered yet from the last day I spent collecting and sucking up leaves. That walking the vac around with the bag over your shoulder is no fun and my back does not like it. A little colder and...

Good evening, Don, There are some real good people in the train business. Chief, I responded to your email. Jeffrey, Keep the pictures coming. They were predicting nasty weather here today. We got a little rain very early morning and the rest of the day was beautiful with temps in the mid...

Jeffrey, I'm surprised that I don't see any rail fans up there taking pictures of the trains passing under the bridge.

Sir James, Weather here is about the same, high today was 32, now 26 with a predicted low of 22. I watched the Ohio State Game, then the Penn State Mich. State game, then the finish of the BC Wake Forest game. Now watching Fla. State and Maryland, will switch back and forth with the Texas Tech...

Good evening, Woke up to snow this morning, by midmorning it looked like we had about 1.5" or so. Around noon the Sun came out and melted it all. A little later it started snowing again and we got about the same amount of wet snow again and then it turned cold. This produced lots of home...

Good evening, Ran some trains last evening. A freight on the main and the North Pole Central on the middle loop. It now has 7 cars. A 2007 Christmas box car, a yellow Peabody hopper which will be filled with Hershey kisses and small bars, a gondola with Santa, frosty and some reindeer...

No Frank, it was just derailing. It actually didn't blow a fuse as it would stop and not short out. The flange way between the running rail and guard rail is too wide for short coupled engines, plus the fact that this particular Lionel loco has very narrow flanges didn't help the problem...

Good afternoon, Cool and breezy here. Collected 12 bags of leaves. Still not done, but that was all my back could handle. Jeffrey, Is there a prototype for that Helium car? I've never seen one before, model or real. It is eye catching. Got to go feed the wood shop cat.

Good evening all, Well I think I have corrected the switch problem. As I mentioned before I thought the guard rail was the problem and it appears I was right. Here is a picture to show what I did. If you look at the left guard rail you will see a white strip on the left side of it. I...

Jim, I'm working on the switch, not the loco. Yes the loco in the North Pole Central set is the 4-4-2 that Lionel has made for about 50 years or so. I find the guard rails on the MTH switches are further away from the running rails than they are on my Atlas switches, I suspect that...

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday, I was busy and didn't get a chance to get one till now. Went to the TCA, Keystone Division train meet this morning and picked up an MTH premier wreck crane and boom car lettered for Reading. On the way home I stopped at cool trains and...
