I would like to think I'm modeling the present day. Most of my motive power would put me in the mid-80's though. I like to say that all trains that I run are locals so they don't get the flagship locomotives pulling them.

I too with Atlas or Kato would come out with a good Dash-8-40C. I know Atlas makes a good four-axle Dash 8. I'm really leery of buying any locos that isn't Atlas or Kato myself.

Hey all, I just want some reviews on the Spectrum 8-40C. I have a Spectrum 8-40CW and I don't think it looks too realistic and doesn't run slow enough. Anyone have opinions?

I used the Norfolk Southern "NS" as an inspiration for #3. No. 5 would be on the nose of the loco, if I use it. I took the Southwest Airlines and London Underground logos as inspiration for #5. I'm leaning more towards #3 for the nose and maybe #2 or #4 for the sides of the loco. Any more...

I'm leaning more towards just modern day. The visible portion of the layout will feature small set of spurs so I think I'll use my SD35 as a local locomotive working the spurs while my newer diesels orbit on the main line.

Great scenery. I love the relatively inexpensive way you accomplished it too.

My future small layout will be in a storage room in the building my wife an I live in.
