    What's your layouts time frame?

I would like to think I'm modeling the present day. Most of my motive power would put me in the mid-80's though. I like to say that all trains that I run are locals so they don't get the flagship locomotives pulling them.

    N Scale Union Railroad

Great looking layout! What do you use on top of your foam? It looks like Sculpta-mold.

The first locomotive I ever painted (three years ago) for my free-lanced N scale layout now under construction. SD35 high hood.

    Spectrum 8-40C Performance

I too with Atlas or Kato would come out with a good Dash-8-40C. I know Atlas makes a good four-axle Dash 8. I'm really leery of buying any locos that isn't Atlas or Kato myself.

    Spectrum 8-40C Performance

Hey all, I just want some reviews on the Spectrum 8-40C. I have a Spectrum 8-40CW and I don't think it looks too realistic and doesn't run slow enough. Anyone have opinions?

    Freelanced Logos Picke 'Em

I used the Norfolk Southern "NS" as an inspiration for #3. No. 5 would be on the nose of the loco, if I use it. I took the Southwest Airlines and London Underground logos as inspiration for #5. I'm leaning more towards #3 for the nose and maybe #2 or #4 for the sides of the loco. Any more...

    Freelanced Logos Picke 'Em

I'm trying to come up with a logo for my freelanced N Scale Ohio Western System. Which one do you like? See attached PDF.

    Greetings

I'm leaning more towards just modern day. The visible portion of the layout will feature small set of spurs so I think I'll use my SD35 as a local locomotive working the spurs while my newer diesels orbit on the main line.

    Quick and easy "filler" trees

Great scenery. I love the relatively inexpensive way you accomplished it too.

    Where is your layout situated?

My future small layout will be in a storage room in the building my wife an I live in.

    Beginner DCC questions

Thanks for the help. All my N scale locos are decoder ready so I shouldn't have much trouble installing the "plug and play" decoders.

    Beginner DCC questions

I'm buying the Digitrax Zephyr DCC starter set for a small N scale layout I'm building (28" x 80"). My simple questions are. 1.) Do I need Digitrax decoders or can I use MRC or other brands of decoder? 2.) How simple is the wiring? Is it as simple as a couple of feeder wires or more...

    Greetings

I'm leaning more towards DCC (Digitrax Zephyr to be exact) b/c I hate wiring and DCC seems to be the simplest way to go. I've compiled a small collection of locos and I want to run those puppies in opposite directions and stage meets. I'll probably have to hit up the DCC board to get some...

    Greetings

CSX: I may expand it. My wife and I live in an apartment and the layout has to be 1.) small enough to fit in a small bedroom, and 2.) Portable in case we have guests or move. MCL: Nope, not a veteran. Not having 20/20 vision kept me out of the Air Force (I wasn't joining if I couldn't fly). I...

re Yeah, I meant to type Ohio Western. I've ridden on the OC's steam train in Sugar Creek though. Good times.

    Greetings

Hi all, I used to be a member of The-Gauge and now I'm back. I model in N scale and will be building a layout this fall if all goes according to plan. My layout will be constructed on a 28"x80" hollow core door with foam insulation scenery. The track plan will closely follow that of the...
