    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

atam this is going to sit on shelf in the living room, when i die it will be donated most like to the maritime museum in Oswego on Lake Ontario. Homestly this build is faster so far than either Rodney or Sharnhorst. Papa, I buy Tom's 1/192 rails but have decided to use up my stock of paper...

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

Just noticed the munster station numbers are ledgible on the boats. until I zoomed in the pics from the camara they are not visible with the naked eye. I did not glue them accordingly, but other then stating it here nobody would know. Wow this model has very fine printing.

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

Boat construction: Photo 1 - 3 boats cut out. They are in thin paper making them easy to shape. I trim the boats with scissors, scribed the keel and two ends to ease folding. Photos 2 & 3 - I overlapped the seams and applied white glue. I did not prebend as the naturally took shape with the...

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

I finally got the rest of the Davits installed, now onto the boats. My fingers are sore from the tight trimming. I got the model from the Paper Model Store. Don't think he has any left.

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

WHEW! That was interesting, anyway finished the derricks and completed one boat launch boom. I built all of the lower assmeblies then decided to complete one, easily one of the more difficult projects yet but I like the outcome so far. I laminated the thin paper arms onto thin copy paper and...

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

derrick inprogress pics. Also another flaw, the ships navigation lights are inverted. To install the correctly I painted the red one green and the green one red. They did assemble well, but intially scared me into thinking I installed them incorectly on every previous model I ever built...

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

I have completed some additional detail over this last weekend. The stern and bow details heav been added. I have to add rails shortly but first I must build the derricks and the ships boats. There is a one fatal flaw I discovered, the ship has 8 derricks but Fly only provides parts for 6. I...

    HMS RODNEY my Kitchen

Thanks; Rodney was tougher at least until I get to the ships boats. The Titanic hull has no difficult bends except at the stern. Also, the long straight sides are paneled (I used balsa) and as such are very flat. The upper works are mostly just rectangles and are all built one level at a time...

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

I still have a ways to go. I think I may go after the ships boats next, they printed all the parts on the thinest paper, not card so I will practice one, if works great otherwise I'll need to scan and print them in heavier bond. I'm not sure how accurate the colors are but they seem decent...

    Fly Model 1/200 Titanic

I mentioned during my recent HMS Rodney and my new Yubari thread that I was also working on Fly models Titanic. The model is nearing completion but I will post some photos till she is done. The model has been alot of fun and with the exception of the very tiring upper deck vents shes has been...

    Ijn yubari 1/200

The decks, hull sides and bow are finished. The biggest problem shown was with the fit of 3 small bow pieces to blend the upper rake of the deck with the sharp cutter bow. The pieces shown attached left a lot to be desired. I improved it bt delaminating some spare card stock and paper machaying...

    Ijn yubari 1/200

I left about 1/8th inch, always have. In this case it did help. The model leaves no added margin. Even the printed parts fit just line to line so I have to color the white edges. I wish printers would not print the glue edge in white but onle use hidden lines to aid in alignment. Also even...

    Ijn yubari 1/200

I got the lower hull done Saturday. Overall the fit was excellent. I wrapped thin copy paper over each former then added the hull plates. I started at the center and worked both foward and aft. The only poor fit was the usual culprit the stuffing box protrusions. They do not offer a very good...

    Ijn yubari 1/200

After placing the upper bulkhead formers I glued the center of the hull with a dab of thich CA in the middle of the hull under former 14 and attached it to a plate of glass. This made the hull very straight. I did this because there was a bow upwards at the hull mid section. I attached the 2...
