to lube or not to lube

Never again will I use any kind of lube on the track. I did not realize that real trains squeak till I visited an area where the trains are not blowing their horns while passing through. I like the squeek now. It sounds more realistic. Roch

    Boring, but easy to........

..........duplicate. I just went out to the tracks to get some ideas flowing and here one is. If part of your layout is in a snowy mountain or set in the winter there is no need to ballast your track or weather ties. The only thing showing on the tracks here right now are the tracks. So just...

Living in a life size caboose

Any Idea what it would cost to buy an old caboose to live in? I was surfing for train pics and saw one of a caboose all decked out with christmas lights parked on a short section of track with a train speeding by behind it. I would link to it, but it leads to another forum. Not a model train...

    mountain advice

Thank you for the advice. My mountain tunnel is made from an empty tobaco can cut in 2 from top to bottom. I stapled the halves together at an angle with strips of cardboard. It is on a curve and I figured out pretty quick that I would have to get inside of it to save a derailed train. I think...
