    Union Pacific's Bailey Yard

I see what you are saying but the magnitude of cars that goes in and out of Bailey yard, even in scale, will be enough to brack a tie or derail a train and each derail takes up time in the operating schedule to fix the problem and I want it to look and preform scale. I will start a mockup of the...

    Union Pacific's Bailey Yard

   that might be a little tuf if the device pulls to hard it can snap the tie and it won't be as realistic. the real retardersw use cylinders the squeze on the rails on the insicde and out slowing the car its cool to watch :)

    DCC or traditional

 yes I know :thumb: I wonder if i could make it into the record book for the largest amourt of blocks and switches :D:D well I like the complexity of DC its alot more realistic since the operators have to plan VERY well and can't get to close or the train will switch blocks and go...

    Union Pacific's Bailey Yard

 true my plan was to take some small servos or air cylinders and have them push on the INSIDE of the rail onto the flange and the actual *brake* material will be balsa or foam. I wil probably go with balsa since it dosen't create as many particles. this will be activated using DCC CTC...

    HO radius recommendation

I belive you can fit up too 80 or 85 feet cars on that you shouldn't have any ploblems running anything on 24". Laso one thing I do if they derail of squek cause the almost or do want to come off is sand down the little pocket (use yuor judgment) till it move more freely just what I do. Thanx, Ben

I didn't see his he posted as I typed sorry!! the radius is the point from the center to the outer the circle what you are thinking of is the diameter. Bach mann e-z track is 18" radius or 36" circle (they also carry 22") MasonJar said it seems plenty enough to do HO. I do deisels and with...
