    figures complaint

Kevin, I run into problems because no matter how much figure variety is out in the market I seem not to like something about them (ie pose, clothes, etc) So i buy mine unpainted and hack them up to match up with how I see the figures in my mind. You can buy a bunch of unpainted figures from...

Is the Real Thing getting, well, blah?

I notice this too. But on the other hand I almost lost it the other day when I saw a U boat still kicking in the middle of some of the new units. How exciting that was! I can;t tell the others apart unless I see it written on the side like on BNSF dash-9s. Oh well there are still some varieties...

I am so hosed right now....

Michael, I myself have gone through bouts of depression and anxiety, albeit not to the extent of your situation. I kept focused on my trains, the things that I could control, and everything worked out for me. I really urge you to get a second opinion on your situation whether it be through...

    Happy Halloween!!!

Well, my work (The Bank) had this great idea that we were going to dress up for Halloween and also decorate pumpkins for the customers to judge. It took me awhile to think of an idea on what to be (about 2 seconds) but it took me until tonight to decide how to do my pumpkin (by the way its not a...

    My Penny Project

The pennies have actually had a Zinc interior since 1982, so all your pennies before are about 95% copper, now it is the other way around. The difference is about .6 grams but i am not sure what that works out to in ounces. I guess i hadn't paid that much attention, but that is a really good...

    My Penny Project

Russ, Are you weighting to some particular benchmark with the shot, for example do you weigh it before hand or have you just found that an equal layer works best? I am definately liking the ideas that are going on here, making me think of more stuff =]. Has anyone tried that low temp stuff...

    My Penny Project

Now you may ask why I use both white glue and CA. I tried it with just white glue and they don’t stay together very well since you are not supposed to use Elmer’s to glue metal! I also tried it without using white glue and just using CA and the pennies didn’t have any thing to keep them “tacky”...

    My Penny Project

Now you have a bunch of weights, they can be stuck in cars using any kind of glue you prefer or taped down (my preference):

    My Penny Project

This topic came up on the HO Railroading group on Yahoo a couple of months back so I wanted to do a little tutorial here to try to give something back. It could easily be adapted to other scales too. To paraphrase the post on Yahoo the gentleman was tired of paying high prices for ¼ oz lead...

    Union Pacific's Bailey Yard

Rubber Doohickeys Hey Guys, A friend of mine uses little rubber doohickeys to slow down cars and even hold cars on a grade. I think it is the stuff that Koosh Balls are made of if that makes sense. Anyway, my idea would be to have a system that could be raised manually or automatically...

Who or What Got You Started?

Playing With Trains I too am a rediscoverer to the hobby. My Dad and a friend got me my first HO scale trains when I was 3 or 4. Old Athearn and such. Way to young for those kind of trains. We ended up building a 4x8 on a piece of plywood, buying bachmann and life like along the way, not...

Looking at digital cameras need sugestions

Digital Camera My first digital is the Fuji Finepix E510. The only problem I have had with it is taking night shots, and seeing the digital screen in low light. Other than that it takes excellent pictures of both model and prototype and I have been pleased with how easy it is to use. Go to a...

    Double fun for July/Aug.

Problems with posting I looked to see what kind of resolution i have on my two pics. The 115K picture is 640x480 already, i think it was taken at 3mp. The other monster is 980 by 12something. I think it was taken at 5mp. Does this help? Cory
