    Preliminary Design - Suggestions Needed!

Gary, On the M&ET most facing point maneuvers were handled at the end of the shift by the process of "dropping" the car which is what Les was describing. It certainly gets the heart beat going :). Sometimes we would take the cars to an intermediate location to be switched by another crew, a...

    Interchange / Operations

Gary, No interchanges between the big guys on our soil, also no run throughs which I was surprised to find out. Brakie, Yeah the 1500's are here. You just cant get parts for the little guys any more plus it takes 5 units sometimes to pull big cuts. The 70 tonners originally had like...

    Interchange / Operations

Brakie, Perhaps I should elaborate on what I was saying. I live in California and work for the M&ET RR a shortline RR here that interchanges with the UP and the BNSF, and is one of the railroads he wanted to base his model RR on. Any experience that I have to share comes from this point of...

    Industry Focused Operations

How many railroads are focused on lumber roads? No shortage of variety or operating interest there. The limits of youir railroad are the limits of your creativity and imagination. It can be whatever you want it to be. :thumb:

The recycled cardboard was my impression after working with the stuff. I am not going to say it is a bad product however I don't think it is anything "special". I also tried to do the steam trick to make a curve in the piece and it did not work. Ah well, on to the next free item! Cory

    Interchange / Operations

"I caution against having industries shipping to each other on a switching layout of any size even with a view block." From what I have seen so far on the real thing, you have a loaded car of lets say furniture come in to one industry from an adjacent railroad and then when that car is empty it...

    Scrap \ junk yard scene!

Slagpot, An idea for your mounds of scrap, how about laying down steel wool to the foam bard as a base either painted rusty or real rusty, i think that would look pretty cool. I just picked a variety pack of different coarseness and if you flattened them out it would be a real nice srap metal...

I just got mine today too, I am not sure what I was expecting, it pretty much matches up to play-doh's description. Not enough to do anything with in the sample pack, maybe we could make that into a challenge =]. It does seem very plyable which could be useful. I will play with it too and let...

    Fantasy Railroads

Tom, I dont think i have ever seen a horn on a caboose before, was/is this common? When did this come about/what roads? I would imagine it being useful for long train backing moves etc. Really sharp paint scheme for the CNE I dig it!!!
