    Manufacturing in China

One thing I know for a fact, the labels on model railroad boxes can be decieving. While Intermountains steam engines, cab forwards, are totally made in China, the cars are not. The car parts are made in Colorado, packed in large boxes, shipped to China where they are assembled and shipped back...

    Magazine choice

Trainnut, I've been reading both since the 50's and I lean more toward MR than RMC. But you might want to check into this because MR is consistantly stating that they don't recognize any MR sales or subscriptions except directly from them. Good luck! Dick Texas Chief

    Clubs and organizations?

:wave:I belong to a local model railroad club and to the Santa Fe Historical and Modeling Society. While these two organizations don't cost me very much money, they pretty much occupy all the free time that I have to spare. Dick Texas Chief:thumb:

    Prototypical Question- Brake Wheels

If memory serves me right, the brake wheel is always on the "B" end of the car which is supposed to be the rear end. I also agree that it would be almost impossible to consistantly follow this procedure. Dick Texas Chief

    PHOTO FUN week of 4/14

Deano, please let me know how it pulls. I've been thinking about getting one myself but I'm leery since it doesn't have traction tires and I have a 2 and a 3 percent grade on the club layout. Thanks a lot. Dick Texas Chief:wave:

 Can anyone tell me if Santa Fe retained the original whistles on the 2-8-8-2 Y3's that they bought from the N&W, or did they swap them out with thier own type of whistles? Thank you very much. Dick Texas Chief

    Blue & Yellow Santa Fe

 Actually, Santa Fe started painting thier engines in the blue and yellow paint,( i.e. bookends), around 1958 and 1959. The cigar band scheme refers to the front logos on the E and F units. All of the passenger E and F units had the cigar band and later the freight F units after the cat...
