    ModelCard USS Arizona question

Hey thanks Vernon. I'd love that information. So little is published on the pre-war characteristics of the Newport Conference design battleships. Or at least I posses very little of it. :-)

Yes, the Digital Navy Fletcher would be a wonderful next subject. So many models, so little time. :-)

    ModelCard USS Arizona question

Ah, I see where you're heading with this. So, you're going to have to test fit the hull plating as you go and modify it to fit the MC Arizona formers... Gotcha. The one thing that stands out to me in this exercise is that the Arizona formers will have to modified somewhat in the fo'csle...

Great work Birder. Ships of sail are so elegant. This one looks ready for some boom work and rigging. Now the real fun begins!

Nice work Ski. You've been holding out on us. Where are the construction reports??? I hate to hear that about your Hood. Such a shame. You did such a great job on her. Maybe the next 1/200 scale job you do, you can tackle a USN subject???

    ModelCard USS Arizona question

Vernon, I have the MC Arizona. Funny thing is that I've never really took the time to look through the model until your question. The similarities in design between the MC and DN are amazing, yet there are still several things done differently beteween the two. I can't tell that much...

    H.G. Watkins USS Houston question

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Back to Detailing Thanks Mauiman! With the float planes complete, I turned my attention this past week to the bow and some catching up on handrail work. As you can see in the attached photos I have killed quite a few white spots on the bow including winches, windlass and various hatches and...

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Birds Finished and Mounted Thanks Birder! The three OS2Us are completed and mounted to their respective catapults. I'm glad this portion of the build is over. I enjoyed building the planes, but it took so long that I've lost momentum on the ship itself. Time to get back into handrails...

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Thanks guys... I'm really starting to see the end in sight. I'm thinking by Christmas if I can pick up the pace. It's getting cold and dark early, so more time for modeling. I'm mid-way into OS2U #3 right now. I should have it finished up in the next couple days, and then it's back to...

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Twins Thanks for all the great comments guys. GAJouette, yes, good catch. That is a print of the line in the sand moment with Col. Travis at the Alamo. Somehow I've always been drawn to that event in history. Probably because I was born a Texan. The Alamo and Arizona have similar...

The stern superstructure looks much more accurate than the Maly Modelarz Rodney that I built a few years ago. The area around the secondary guns looks correct. Very skilled work. You're running downhill now. :-)

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

One down... Two to go Finished the first OS2U last night. I've placed it in a shot side-by-side with the original. I'm pleased with how the re-color came out. Now I've got to build two more of these gems. That should keep me busy for a while.

Kingfishers the sequel Thanks guys. I had thoughts of scratch building interiors, but quickly dismissed them. Now that I'm clear of vacation, I'm back on the job. Here's the first shots of the correctly colored  kingfisher. This is just the fuselage and wings only...

Glad I could help Joe. I'm just glad to see you back into Rodney. Looks like you've made a real good start on Titanic. I know your pain. It's so tempting to work a pair of models concurently, but it can be very taxing. I started a 1/350 plastic Arizona concurently with my 1/100 card...
