    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Thanks Birder... I just got some major sticker-shock on aftermarket resin boats. I may end up building all these anyway. As I continue to deliberate.

    Digital Navy's HMS Dreadnought

Nice work papastumpy... I might have to download and build this one again. I forgot how much fun this model is.

Quiet, but not Idle. A couple small ships...

I agree Ski. Painting the hull is one of my favorite techs. I think it really adds a lot of surface and texture reality to the hull. Good luck with the large scale wooden Fletcher... You might consider buying DN's soon-to-be released Fletcher when it comes out. I think it will be 1/200...

Thanks reklein and Ski. I am by no means a purist of paper. I build ship models in all mediums. Resin is an arena that I'm starting to get an interest. Plastic is an old friend, and paper is probably my favorite. Although I must admit I do have limitations in paper. Micro modeling...

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Merry Christmas guys. You've given me re-newed focus with your comments. I didn't realize that my build was inspiring to so many folks... Thank you! I know what you're saying about alternate materials papastumpy... I gave up trying to build the fiddly little JSC Walrus float plane for my...

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

No, I'm in complete agreement with you. I'm very discouraged right now. To come this far only to get hung up on the ship's boats is difficult. I've had some time to think about it and I feel that since these boats are much larger than their intended design, the hull construction is...

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Thanks Jeanma. You did a very good job on your version of Arizona. Thanks for sharing. Yes, building at this size leaves no margin for error. It's a challenge to make details work at this size when the model is designed to be much smaller. But the work is still fun.

More Boats Thanks Ski! Here are some more boats to look at. These are taking more time to build than I had anticipated. Also, the construction of the hulls is good for the smaller 1/250 scale, but at 1/100 I find the results are mediocre at best and the construction time is lengthy...

Great work Ski. I love that model. The dazzle cammo is very sharp, and you built it to a very high degree of quality.

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Small details wrapping up I've been tardy in updating recently. I've completed the details on the starboard side and now I'm starting on the ship's boats. I've completed one of the small launches, but I'm not quite satisfied with the look. I used 110 pound card and it was really too heavy to...

    HMS RODNEY my Kitchen

She looks wonderful Joe. I'm glad you could finish her. Just the fine details to go. I don't think your skills are marginal, I think you've done quite a remarkable job on this beautiful old ship. Your detail work is very clean and this will be a nice addition to your model shelf.

I like it Ski. Very good. Is that styrene round for the upper mast? You're skills are reaching new heights!

You're doing a splendid job Ski. Nice. I love the dazzle cammo on those Italian capital ships. Really looks great. Have fun!

    Digital Navy - USS Arizona - 1/100

Thanks Ski and Mauiman... Yes, I've worked my way back down the starboard side with handrails, open chocks, bollards and some other details. The boats are fast-approaching. I've previewed the parts for these and they look very straight forward. I can't wait to get into them. It's...

Fine Details I've completed the work on the bow of the ship. All the items are in place and waiting for chain, which is something that I'm looking for. I've been busy with the small details in the shots below. Davits, boarding platforms and boarding booms. I've wrapped the handrails...
