    My delayed N-Layout

Where did all the Erie cabooses go? I only found one on the auction site were not suppose to mention.

    My delayed N-Layout

Great looking collection, almost gives me the urge to switch to Erie. If you end up with more engines than you know what to do with and simple run out of display place, I'll be glad to accept a donation of a few - just to help out of course...

    My delayed N-Layout

I've downsized a lot due to space, $$$, and health reasons. So now I'm running just a few diesels, but I did have a few PRR steamers in my days gone by:

    My delayed N-Layout

Dan, nice collection of Erie engines! The layout has some great potential and I hope you get to develop and enjoy it. p.s. At the risk of offending the PRR gods, I just purchased an Atlas EL diesel on the auction site...

To those with lots of track...

The little pieces of untempered rough masonite - which I don't know if you can even get anymore - were just enough to rub the rail surface and remove some of the crud in hard to reach places and tunnels.

At that low of an angle even Z scale would look large - no offense intended to our Z scale friends.

    Starting a new smaller layout

Well, my Pennsy road foreman made a midnight acquisition of the Hudson from a nearby NYC interchange track when he found he didn't have an engine available for an important express train. A little black paint and some quick lettering was all that was needed. The PRR had so many different types...

The following picture represents a slight step backwards in progress on the layout. I was about ready to paint the bottom of the creek which is a major water feature on the layout. Something just didn't look right to me and a little voice in my head said not to continue. I finally figured out...

To those with lots of track...

If you design a layout with a lot of track and a ton of turnouts, then you have to be willing to do what the real railroads do - spend some time doing maintenance. I used a couple of boxcars with suspended pieces of masonite between their trucks, to help keep the rails clean especially track...

csxengineer- Never had the pleasure of riding or visiting the real Chartiers Branch. It was only 23.6 miles long but crossed the creek almost 20 times. It has an interesting history. Clark - The Sears house took a lot of work to get it to look good. Not directly due to the number of pieces...

    Starting a new smaller layout

The little tributary of the creek that is next to the mountain/hill just disappears behind it, there is no track bridge there. There were some minor trackplan changes that I made on-the-fly since I first posted it here. I plan on partially blocking the view of the rear tracks with a tree line...

    Starting a new smaller layout

Thanks for the nice comments guys. No, the water is not done yet. What you see is just black paint down the middle of the creek for now. The creek bed when finished will contain a blend of black, blue/green, brown and tan colors. I'm currently working on the fasica which also provides a...

woodland scenics scenic cement "new and improved formula"

I just finished ballasting using the "new and improved" Scenic Cement and it seems to work just fine for me. I did notice that it does not settle to the bottom of the container like the old stuff. I didn't know anything not needing "wet water" with it, I ballasted the same way I always have...

    Woodland Scenics News

The Woodland Scenics web site says that they are coming out with a couple of n scale pre-assembled buildings soon. Anyone know more about these and when they might be released? The pictures look pretty good.

    Starting a new smaller layout

I really like doing scenery when the time comes. Starting a layout this time of year with yard work, house painting, and the wife's endless todo list is not the smartest thing I've ever done, but I'll take what I can get.

    Starting a new smaller layout

Thanks BerraF. The track is done except for one siding in the back. I just finished the wiring for the track and turnouts to a small control panel. Next will be the slide switches for the Atlas Custom turnouts. Good feeling to be able to move trains again...

    Starting a new smaller layout

Thanks. The Custom line of turnouts need something to hold the points against the stock rail. A switch machine or Caboose throw will work, but I wanted to try something small and cheap since they will be used on turnouts that are within easy reach. I think I found what I’m going to use but have...
