    Atlas Shay

Shay built many locos of various tonnage. Almost every Shay differed from each other. I know the "Pacific Coast Shay" was an attempt to make a standard loco but even in that group were many differences. I have a book, "Shay, Titan of the Timber" by Michael Koch that covers the history of...

    Atlas Shay

Just Curious.....Atlas usually announces a new loco in HO first and then comes an N-scale version. I wonder if Atlas will also make an HO version of the Shay. Any rumors?

    Atlas Shay

A Shay in N-scale is long overdue. The Pacific Coast Shay or Western Maryland #6 were large locos and could easily be done in N. Hopefully this will open the door for other logging locos in N. Way to go Atlas.

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Marty, Thanks for finding that picture. I saved it and blew it up so I could read the numbers. The "A" unit is 710D and the "B" is 710C. So...this is proof ERIE had both numbered and un-numbered FT"B" units in the earlier 3-digit road numbers. When I went to the Intermountain website...

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Hi Chris, The only ERIE book I have for reference is "The Erie Railroad Story" by Paul Carleton. He has several pictures of the original FT's but I can't see any numbers on the "B" units. Later on, as you mentioned, ERIE renumbered them to the 70XX series. These have numbers on the "B"...

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

ERIE FT-B Numbering Question I noticed the Intermountain FT-B units do not have road numbers. My A-units are in Road Numbers 702 and 703. Later on ERIE changed the numbers to 7021 and 7031 and I've seen pictures of the B-units with these numbers. I'm thinking the 3-digit FT's had...

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Blake, Oh yeah, you're gonna want these babies. Did you ever do any ERIE repaints of the Bachmann F-7's? I never bought any of Bachmann's F-7's because I remember earlier stuff from them that started out at about 50 MPH and probably topped out at over 200. They were noisy, with poor...

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Greg. I went to the Intermountain site when I saw they are coming out with the F-3 in N-scale. Hopefully they will do the ERIE black & yellow on that one too when they do new releases. Yes, N-scale is really getting interesting for ERIE guys.

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Well, that's a good deal. I wonder how many they are painting in ERIE. With my luck, I figured I would order them early to make sure of getting them.

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Pat, I got them at the "Train Depot" in Winter Park, Florida. They were put on special order for me last spring and were the only two sets in ERIE ordered for that store. The list price is $199.95 per set. Not a large call for ERIE in Florida. I still like my lifelike Alco FA1/FB1...

Intermountain FT units now avail in ERIE black & Yellow

Picture of FT's with FA1 I threw in a Lifelike FA-1 for comparison. The FA-1 lacks the handrails but is a lot of loco for the money. It's nice to have more than one F unit available in ERIE. I would like to see an F3 or F7 to join the fleet.

    Bachmann next year

Sounds good to me...Shay, Climax, Heisler, Vulcan and any other logging/mining type locos that can handle backwoods tracks. On30 is getting exciting.

Thomas the Tank Engine HO trains.

Well, I'm going to build a On30 Christmas layout and I will also buy a couple of Thomas HO Locos, probably Thomas and Percy and see how my grandson takes to them. Since they will run on the On30 track it will work out fine. My Grand-Daughter, Abby, already has most of the Ertl diecast...

    RGS "Galloping Goose" models

BDC, Yeah buddy, I'd like to have the "Big Picture". I sent you an e-mail with my address. That little #6 pickup is neat but always causes problems when trying to find a small power truck to fit beneath the bed. Thanks

    RGS "Galloping Goose" models

Hey, I like that ride on little Goose pickup. Here is a link to the Con Cor #5 Goose status. http://www.all-railroads.com/Goose.htm It says they will have a sound card for the Goose. What kind of noise will a gasoline engine make? Thanks for all the Goose responses so far, keep it...

    Who is running DCC?

I hope this thread gets a lot of responses because I am almost clueless about DCC operation. I assume you have a power supply with a fairly high amperage capacity connected to all tracks so you can run multiple locos. I am further assuming that there is a locomotive control which sends...

Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge Diesel #1

Thought I'd post a picture of my NSWL S/P #1 HOn3 diesel. I put a 3' section of HOn3 track on a 2" X 4" and then raised one end to see how much of an incline this little monster could handle . Due to heavy weight and very low gearing, this little mountain-climber would make a Shay-driver...

    RGS "Galloping Goose" models

Does anyone have photos of their Rio Grand Southern "Goose" models (any scale) they could post here? I, for one, would love to see the entire fleet available in On30. Here is a good site for "Goose" info and pictures. http://rgsrr.home.comcast.net/rgs/goose_tline.html These models...
