Is anyone working with "Thomas the Tank" engines?

David, Thanks for the info. Love the photos of the British railroading. Everything is so different from the monster locos used on US railroads. Even the buildings are so quaint-looking and they have a completely different style than American buildings. Bet those guys have fun running...

Is anyone working with "Thomas the Tank" engines?

I already bought all the Ertl diecast Thomas stuff for my six-year old grand-daughter, plus the wooden Thomas table and wooden track. I also bought her a Lionel electric "O'-gauge Thomas set but it sounds like a coffee grinder when it runs. Now my 2-1/2 year old grandson has taken over the...

Is anyone working with "Thomas the Tank" engines?

I keep hearing people ask how can we get younsters into model railroading. Seems to me the Thomas line of electric HO trains made now by Bachmann would be an ideal way to get kids away from the video games. The biggest drawback I see is that although they do have three different locos...

Robin, My wife has a great-Niece named Neveah. Her parents say it's "Heaven" spelled backwards. Congratulations.

What's the best looking Diesel loco?

I think the best-looking diesel loco ever has to be the ALCO PA-1. My favorite RR is the ERIE and they used Black & Yellow PA-1 units for freight and 2-tone green for Passenger service. When it comes to hood units I've always liked the chunky and distinctive look of the GP-30. There are...

N-scale diesel listings of older issues

The list is still on the Atlas site under Products/N-Products. Atlas Customer Service pointed me to the list of older issues. http://www.atlasrr.com/nproducts.htm All is well now, the nation is secure.

Atlas N-Scale steam from the '60's

Ray, Here are three of the Atlas 0-8-0's. B&O Repaint, AT&SF and Indiana Harbor Belt. Another little cutie is the Atlas 0-4-0 with tender.

Atlas N-Scale steam from the '60's

Thought I might also show the B&O version of the Atlas 0-8-0 pictures that I just sent you. This was a repaint done by Ted's Engine House in New Jersey.

Atlas N-Scale steam from the '60's

Back in the mid-60's, when N-scale was in it's infancy, Atlas blessed us with several sweet-running steamers. The first one was a heavy 0-8-0 Swicher, then a graceful 4-6-2 light Pacific, and then a handsome 2-8-2 Mikado. We were very proud of our little gems and would show them off to...

N-scale diesel listings of older issues

Wayne, I started checking out the Conrail listings and discovered I have a lot more than the list shows. Then I saw where the last time the list was updated was in 2001....... Back to the drawing board.

    Digital Backgrounds

Bryant, It always amazes me how many guys there are on this board who can build such fabulous models and then have the ability to photograph them with such professional or even artistic results. Welcome to the board, I love this kind of stuff...always something new to learn. I have high...

N-scale diesel listings of older issues

At one time the ATLAS web page had a history section where you could research any road name or loco type and see what diesels were previously made by ATLAS for a road such as Conrail. Or you could select a loco type and see what road names were available at one time. Does anyone still have...

Here's another one. A 1/24th MG for "G" Scale. This is Emma Peel from the "Avengers" and "Elvira" posed with a Franklin Mint MG TC.

    Digital Backgrounds

I do composite pictures too by using .gif files with transparent backgrounds. The whole thing is done in the computer. I should explain...the background is one picture done on a jpg. I dropped it into microsoft "Powerpoint." The Packard is a 1/24th scale Danbury mint model that was...

    "N"tique E8s

Ray, Considering all the fine locos we have available today, in retrospect those old Atlas locos from the '60 were pretty much cutting edge at the time. Except for way oversized wheel flanges and a tad more speed than we needed, details were pretty nice for such small items. The Atlas...

    "N"tique E8s

Ray, your PC locos look pretty good. Thanks for posting that site on early Atlas N-locos. I got started in N-scale back in the sixties and still have several Atlas steam locos. One is a special offering from Ted's Engine House in NJ that is a repainted 0-8-0 in blue for the B&O. When...

best brands of N scale locomotives

Steve, I don't think anyone will argue Kato or Atlas quality. My loco selection is based upon what is offered by the various manufacturers. Since we just had a couple of hurricanes go through Florida recently I had my locos boxed up for safety....... so I could take a quick count of...
