    ERIE RR in N-scale

Chris, lots of nice photos. I really like that shot #10 of the 4-unit Alco F unit lash-up. Those Lifelike FA1/FB1's are great runners. Do you have enough cars to slow them down? Thats a lot of power. I also like your draw bar to decrease the distance between the locos.

    I've taken the plunge

Atlas has a couple of Rio Grande wide vision orange cabooses with black lettering and they have a black cupola type with orange lettering. My local dealers never have anything in stock that I want. Everything seems to be Santa Fe or UP. Try finding a caboose for ERIE.

    ERIE RR in N-scale

Hoghead, Here's one I found with Erie diesels. I've seen several over the years but the brain is a little dusty. http://community.webshots.com/album/63288866PnpIRl Blake Tartar did several gorgeous repaints of steam and diesel in N-ERIE.

    I've taken the plunge

Sounds like you're off and running. Just curious, if you bought a Rio Grande diesel....why did you get a Southern caboose?

"The Big Trees" DVD - Logging and TOC reference

Harold, I finally found the Big Trees DVD at Wallmart. It was up in the front of the store in a display full of $1.00 DVD's. It came in a super thin case. It only took six months to finally find it. Someday I hope to find DVD's to replace my VHS tapes for Denver & Rio Grande...

    GE44-tonners in N scale

I'd like to see N scale GE 44-ton diesels available.

    ERIE RR in N-scale

I was wondering how many others model the old ERIE with the black & yellow paint scheme. Atlas and Lifelike have been the major supporters of Erie equipment. Erie stuff is hard to come by but so far I have: (In classic Erie black & yellow) Erie RS-3 (929) Atlas Erie RS-3...

    Other hobby's?

I have several hobbies in additon to N, HO and On30 trains. Back in 1951 I discovered they had model airplane engines that actually ran and I said goodby to gliders and rubber power from then on. Guess I'm up to around 500 model airplane engines. Also wrote quite a few magazine articles...

    Green Goose

Nice job on your green goose. I've been trying to get to one in On30 and ended up remodeling the house. Oh well, maybe sometime later this year.

    Standard or narrow gauge

Find a book titled "Pino Grande." It's about the Michigan-California Logging company that operated standard gauge on one side of a gorge and narrow gauge on the other side. They hauled the wood across the gorge on a cable. Very interesting book. I have the original and there was a second...

    Peco brand on30 track --?

Does anyone have a comparison shot of Atlas vs Peco track? Seems to me the ties should extent further from the rails than the Bachmann HO track.

    O Scale Bushes/Undergrowth

Drew, Great idea, I'm getting into On3 and always looking for scenery tips. Who's doing the dishes now?

    Wanted please

Here is a postcard of the Erie RR station in Monroe, NY. It was built in the '20's and burned down in 1978. It was light yellow and green when it burned. There was at least one Erie station in Monroe, maybe two, prior to this one. I have pictures somewhere of the wrecking ball knocking...

    question about image compression......

Steve, I've had several programs which can do image resize but my hands-down favorite is "Paint Shop Pro-7" by Jasc Software. Instead of stretching and skewing I can simply pick the number of pixels for width or height and the other will be automatically selected. After I get the...

    What's a good Digital Camera

I keep seeing "Macro" being suggested and I agree with that.....but even more important to me is having a camera that allows me to choose "Aperature" priority so I can choose a high f-stop to obtain maximum depth of field. My Nikon 5700 (and many others) allows me to pick Aperature, Shutter...

    What's a good Digital Camera

There are a lot of good Digital Cameras out there. I use a Nikon 5700 and we have a Nikon 4300 for back-up. They work so well I haven't even looked at the latest stuff. Check out Stevesdigicams.com for test reports on all digital cameras.

    Favorite N Scale Manufacturer

Hey Sunfish, which Arnold 0-6-0? I had a small german-looking one that started out at about 40MPH. Which one are you referring to?

    whats is logging?

Daniel, Logging is a very interesting phase of railroading. Many Logging lines used geared type locos for steep grades and light rail. One of the neatest books I have is "Pino Grande" which features the Michigan-California Lumber company. They had a narrow gauge operation on one side...

"The Big Trees" DVD - Logging and TOC reference

Harold, Thanks for the heads-up. I've been looking for that movie to be done on DVD, the price sure sounds right. Gotta go...I'm off to Wallmart.

    Favorite N Scale Manufacturer

I prefer Atlas, Lifelike, Kato and Intermountain. Lifelike has given us some extremely nice locos for very low prices and they run just fine. I like the ERIE RR, so Atlas, L/L and I/M are tops on my list. I also have Erie-Lackawanna and Kato has done a few sweet runners in E-L.
