    My delayed N-Layout

Chartiers, Nah, never gave it a thought. I like your PRR locos. I was thinking about upgrading my picture of the Erie Cab units so I decided to put them all in the shelf unit but ran out of space and couldn't show another FA1/FAB set in road numer 725. The Erie ran a lot of 4-uint lashups...

    Christmas Photo Fun.

Here is a simple Christmas layout I made a couple of years ago when I decided to try out the Bachmann On30 stuff. This is just to get the ball rolling and I really don't expect this to win anything.

    My delayed N-Layout

Chartiers, No you won't offend the PRR gods. I started in N-scale back around 1964 when MR magazine had a cover with a picture of an Atlas Pacific pulling a string of freight cars, sitting on a section of full size rail. Still have that Pacific and it still runs. Also have the Atlas...

    My delayed N-Layout

I should be moving within the next six months so it's a bit on hold. I also made provisions for table legs so I will stand it up and do a lot of test running to make sure the grades are not too severe and pulling uphill into a turn doesn't cause any problems. Lucky for me the Erie used...

    My delayed N-Layout

My delayed ERIE N-Layout Several years ago I started this layout which was designed to fit the top of a bunk bed. It measures 39.75" X 82.50". With grandkids in mind, I learned they liked simple running of long trains with no switching problems so I tried to maximize the running distance...

    my inspiration into On30

Randy, I built an open framework layout that fits on top of a bunk bed and put a double track in folded dogbone. The track is mounted on cork on top of cookie cutter plywood but I haven't done any scenery yet as I want to test, test and test some more the elevations to make sure the locos pull...

    OBS rides again

Dave, Have you been to the railroad shop on Fairbanks Ave in Winter Park? Colonial Hobby on Mills ave in Orlando has a lot of stuff too. I'll send you a PM. There's another fellow in Oviedo with an N-layout but I lost his email when I got my latest computer.

    my inspiration into On30

Most of my diecasts are 1/24 and 1/18 but I do have some stuff in 1/43. About the closest thing I can get for an On30 layout would be a '40 Ford station wagon and some Ford and Chevy pickups from the '50's. On the other hand, I could make it a nostalgia type railroad set in modern times...

    OBS rides again

Hi Dave, I'm in Central Florida too. My railroad of choice is the old ERIE as I used to live in upstate NY and remember the transition from steam to diesel when I was a kid. My first ERIE n-scale diesel was a Lifelike FA2/FB2 which had a powed A unit and a dummy B. I found a PRR A unit...

    my inspiration into On30

Randy, I bought a Bachmann D&RGW Bumble Bee freight set a couple of years ago, set it up as a Christmas tree layout and am still trying to figure out what I want to build for a layout. i'm also into N-scale ERIE with a bunch of diesels waiting for some track to run on. Every time I get...

    ERIE caboose decals

For an N-scale ERIE fan, the lack of an ERIE caboose is a problem. There have been many ERIE locos made by Atlas, Lifelike, Con-Cor and others but I can’t find a caboose. Paul R. Tupaczewski, owner of the high quality “Prime Mover” Decals said he will make N-scale ERIE decals if there are at...

    Life Like Alco C424/425

Thanks for the responses. I have an Atlas C425 "Classic" and it doesn't pull as well as my Atlas/Kato GP-35's. The 35 is a real workhorse. Wonder how the Lifelike 424 compares to the Atlas 425. I'm impressed with my Lifelike locos and the split frames are really nice runners...

    Life Like Alco C424/425

I just discovered Life Like made an Alco C424/425 with split frame chassis in Erie-Lackawanna. Evidently they made two different road numbers in the first run in 2003. Has anyone any comments on this loco. Also....does the EL version have a black or grey roof?

    Mine track size

Doc, N-scale track scales out to HOn30. AHM used to make mining stuff in that scale. I believe there is still quite a following for HOn30 with cottage-type kits available. Do a search on HOn30, you should find something.

How many are using code 55 track?

I think I would prefer to stick with ATLAS because they are an American company and they have shown support for many scales, for many years, not to mention they are one of very few companies to support the ERIE and Erie-Lackawanna railroads. For years I have built my layouts with a lot of...

Is there a way to slow Con-Cor PA's?

I just checked out my two old Con-Cor PA-1's in two-tone ERIE green. They look nice with my six Con-Cor heavy ERIE passenger cars in the same two-tone green. One PA-1 sounds like a coffee grinder but the other one is very smooth. It will move about 1 tie in three seconds without fiddling...

Does anyone else find nscale.org confusing?

I registered on both nscale boards but there is a lot of n-scale information right here on the Gauge. Looking at or posting on other sites is fine but this one seems more active. I'll just cruise them all. Sometimes they all seem to die.

How many are using code 55 track?

I started in N-scale back in the mid-60's and got locked in with the larger rail. Seems to me code-55 would make a much more realistic layout but then I couldn't run my old Atlas Steam locos. Most of my diesels should handle code 55 so I think I'll build a test loop to see how my...

New Progress on the ACT RR

Mike, That looks great. I really like the chain-link fences. Just wait 'til the tourists show up and mess up your pretty lawns with newspapers, soda cans and other trash. Keep posting progress pictures...
