Help: How to remove Bachmann F7 shell.

I am not sure how to do this. I don't see any pins on the side of the frame that go through the shell. The side seem loose enough to come off. I don't see any thing on the aft end and this one will need to come loose first because of the coupler on the front. I don't want to pry to hard and...

A better way to search for information.

I love this site, but the search engine leave a lot to be desired. I recently found a better way to search this type of forum. Go to Google and put in you normal stuff that you want to find. EI "Bachmann F7 shell" Now add to the search text "site:http://forum.zealot.com/" The hits...

    need help with Bachmann 2-8-0

How do they replace... Sense you have done this a lot maybe you could answer how they handle it when you send back a GN 2-8-0, but they currently don't make GN 2-8-0. How is the replacement handled? Kent

    need help with Bachmann 2-8-0

I just bought a second hand Bachmann 2-8-0, got it home and tried it out. Moved about 3 inches and stopped. I could back it up about the same and it stopped. There is some binding in the gear/wheels. I removed the bottom cover and checked the wheels. The back one (the one with the gear on...

    Stewart FT light side (Why)

I just bought an A/B used pair of GN FT units. Very nice running and look good. I did realize when I bought them that the A unit had "light side" IE a window on the side with the road number displayed with LEDs. This supprised me as I thought of Stewart (these are the first that I have owned)...

code 100 switch with code 83 track?

I have some #4 Atlas custom line code 100 switches. I am starting construction of my new layout (first big one) and have bough 300 ft of code 83 flex track. I will be using new #6 switches on the main line, but was wondering if it would work to use these old switches on a yard? Kent

    LED Resistor help

OK, so 18VAC is the equivalent of 18VDC, but sense the duty cycle of the AC would be 1/2 the DC, would the led be putting out 1/2 the light and using 1/2 the power? Kent

    trains in movies

I didn't verify the facts, but after my wife and I watched "3:10 to Yuma", she did some searching on the Internet about the movie. She found that there were some director mistakes in the movie. There was a picture of the train in the station that show air-brakes on the underside which wouldn't...

World's Greatest Hobby in KC this weekend

Hi Roger I went when it was in Portland, Or. I only went the last day and after I look through everything, it was only a couple of hour before the close of the show. The people selling were ready to dicker on the price at that point. There were a number of hobby shops and resellers that I...

    Kent's RR plan

You are right it is above. The track from B to A and then back to B in a loop. The track G to H should be about 18 inches higher and don't connect. I think that I may need to put some distance between the back side of the B loop and the G - H track as a 18" clift streight up might not look...

    Kent's RR plan

Well I have been doing some more plan work. My eraser is starting to heat up. I did some prototyping on my duck-under bridge from H to E. I move a piece of plywood to partially block off a door to 24 inches and then clamped a 1x2 across the doorway at different heights. I looks like...

Andrew how long are the pictures saved? I have noticed this when I look back through older posts that the pictures and links don't seem to work. Is there some rule that the Gauge uses for how long it save these for the old posts? Sideways, I like the doodlebug. I was tracking one on eBay...

    Kent's RR plan

Well I don't have a picture of it yet, but... I have been adding sidings and engine track-age. With the little plastic templates that I am using and the fat pencil I don't think that anyone would be able to tell a #4 from a #8 turnout. With a mainline of 26" min curve, I thought that #6...

Great Train Expo Show Novi, MI

I did make it out on Sunday for a couple of hours. There were about 10 layout running, a couple of N, some larger scale, but most were HO. They were all local clubs with portable layouts, I think. Lots of people selling stuff (mom and pop operations), some LHS were represented, but no...

    Bachmann DCC questions

My mind work faster then my fingers, or... is it the other way around? :cry:I just assume that everyone knows what I want even if I don't type it. I am still trying to figure out which DCC system to buy. I am leaning towards the Prodigy, but still have some more reading to do and...
