No-Athearn!!?? By golly, you're right!! Funny I hadn't noticed, before!! So, I guess, I'll just have to locate an Athern Catalog. I thought I was getting an occassional e-mail update, but my brain must have slipped more cogs than I thought!!

    Athearn SD50, SD60, SD70M, and SD70MAC Instructions?

Todd, The very first trainshow I went to, they had them on a table just inside the door. I asked the man if they were free, he said, "yes." So...you want me to bootleg you a copy??:wink::wink:

    Athearn SD50, SD60, SD70M, and SD70MAC Instructions?

what's where May I make a suggestion, not wanting to be presumptious, of course? When you want to find what's available for what, why not use Walther's Master Catalog? I have one, for 2008. I also have, on CD, a Bowser Catalog. Just a couple of suggestions.

tracking...the big game What you all have suggested, so far, makes sense! I am looking forward to "possessing" the entire building. It should be a few years down the road, but trust me, it will happen! That's why I am thinking so far ahead. What I do now, will be the basis for the whole layout...

History Channel - another Train Series!!!

watch your language! When we allow a word or "catchphrase" in the dictionaries, just because it is frequently used, we are in literal trouble, literally speaking, of course! I see more misplaced and misused words in the newspapers, than anywhere else. And a local educational facility says "It...

    On Track, with Deano

ICE cold... The first ICE units I ever saw, were a couple of years ago, when I visited Iowa, to see my terminally ill sister. The units I saw were all painted white, and looked like they had been salvadged from a junkyard! Not nearly as pretty as the ones you saw!

    Question about real materials.....

Old speaker magnets are great for this! I have one suspended from a long cord, (so I don't have to bend over,) I use on my workshop floor. You could just pour out your material then slowly pass the speaker magnet over it.

    Blaze Destroys Historic Rail Tower

burning buildings I HATE arsonists!! Especially those who do it to get their "kicks." But, before I get up on my soapbox, I'd like to add my regrets for the loss of this fine structure. As for saving the steam locos, well, a guy recently was given an old decrepit steam loco, if he'd haul...

    Am I Crazy?

loftiness is next to..... Golly! Doesn't sound too lofty, to me! It sounds like you will have a great layout, that will be fun for you to work on. After all, isn't the main idea to have fun??:thumb:

    Bachmann GE 45 Tonner

once upon a time... I've been reminising a lot, lately, (it happens when you get old, or bored, or both,) and I remembered seeing a strange little engine pushing and pulling flats and freights around on the old J.I.Case tracks at their plant in Bettendorf, IA. I've often wondered what it was...

    Layout Ideas

hollow victory (and doors) Trainiac77: Funny thing you should mention hollow core doors. I suggested them to someone else, quite some time ago. That's what I plan on using. You don't even have to buy new ones. I go to my (sort of) local Habitat For Humanity Store, and purchase used ones. Since...

The doors! Galen, The doors open outward. Squidbait, We thought having the doors on each end would be more convenient. Also, as the bldg has since been "shoved around," to square it with the rest of the world, the end closest to our deck, and ultimately the one that will likely be used most...

No, I can't go around the room. The loft area, as shown in the photos is too high to reach. The measurements on the illustration shown on the previous thread are the maximums. The reason for there being only 31" at the ends of the walls, is that's where the double doors are located. I have...

cont'd Thanks for all the great ideas. General comments, pick what applies to your ideas: 1: I'm not too keen on roundhouses and turntables. An engine repair facility would be nice. 2: A grand trestle would be grand, but I have no skills to build one, and cannot afford to purchase one. 3: I...

more specs... NKP174: Actually, the storage area needs to be fairly large, about half the bldgs width and all of it's length. We will be emptying out our garage, and tearing it down, before it falls down on its own. Then we will have to rebuild it elsewhere on the property. So... To use some of...
