    help with hump yard operation

Gary: i think that you are right. This was a novelty type item and it is my recollection that in the MR video the owner of the layout used standardized 40 ft box cars for the yard. However, at least on the video it seemed to work well. Jim

    help with hump yard operation

Hey Wolv: I also replied to your post at Trains.com. There is an old Model Railroader Video Tour video tape that Allen Keller did before he left MR to start his own shop that goes into this in great detail. Although the tape is nearly 20 years old by now it probably still contains some...

    It's Here!!

Electronics always get smaller As time passes lelectronic components alyways get smaller. I have an NCE system and the handheld Procab is about the same size. Isn't it amazing how quickly the small kids learn how to use electronic gizmos?

    Weathered Ballast

I am ballasting a freight yard. Tried the India Ink technique--really works well. Especially since I was using ballast from several Woodland Scenics packages that must have produced in different batches because the color did not match. Once the weathering was done, it turned out OK. I also...

Have you seen the new Genesis Auto-Max?

Thanks for the replies. these models do look pretty cool. One thing to remember about Athearn is that they probably have some sort of venture capital money invested as part of the purchase of the company from the Athearn family. as a result, managment has itsw feet to the fire to deliver...

Have you seen the new Genesis Auto-Max?

Javier- $50 is about what you would expect for a list price. Essentially the car appears to articulated and is approximately the same as two box cars. Last time I looked, Athearn priced their Genesis bos cars at $25 a pop. jim

    9-11....Let us not forget!

I agree with all of you. I saw a bumper sticker today where the car owner changed the order of the words to "America Bless God." It has provided some interesting food for thought. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and heros of 9/11 and to our armed forces who are...

    painting track

Vic: I'm with you. I get the track soldered and running right before i weather and ballast. I use Krylon paints--three colors of primer Rust colored dark brown, flat black and gray. I remove the paint from the top of the rails right after painting so I don't use any oil. I just don't like...

    Dirty boxcars

I too hjave converted most of my weathering to chalks. It takes a little practice, but the results are great. And the part about not having clean the airbrush...that may be the best part of all.:D

    Atals dual mode decoder problem

Hi Gary: The three Atlas locos included one undecorated unit, one un-numbered unit and a loco with a number of 2003. therefore they all have a factory address of three. I am able to change the address of each loco on the programming track, however, when I do so, the locos do not respond...

    Atals dual mode decoder problem

I recently purchased an NCE system. I have test run about a dozen locomotives and have successfully reprogrammed them in accordance with the instruction manual. I have three Atlas locos that have the dual mode decoder. I can only run them if they are programmed with the initial factory...
