    problem with this wrb site

UPS does operate in Finland but I understand the fees for transatlantic shipping are astronomical, doubly so if insurance is required. You'd be vastly better off getting what you need from ebay. Reading the page, that's also a very odd way of making business, and one I am not entirely at ease with.

Vicinal railroad, any equivalent in North-America ?

It isn't anymore? :-O Well, truth be told, it's impressive but I'd rather have something else on my RR. Firstly because having an electric loc would tempt me to set up a catenary system, and second because the Croc is notoriously demanding in terms to turn radii

    Train set?

You can't go far wrong with one of those, especially with a company like Fleischmann whose stuff is universally high-quality. It's only a matter of finding a starter set that comes with a loco you like (in my case it was a small DB diesel switcher, a beaut piece of work with excellent low-speed...

    Question from a newbie

And it's not like the Pacific's a small engine, either. I've seen one* up close, and have to say it looks considerably more impressive IRL. All in all, I can't say I'm a big fan of the concept of getting the biggest imaginable locos for every track. *Well, it was a Finnish Hr1, looked like...

    Dont you hate being ignored?

I've seen that phenomenon, yes. About the the only place you get enthusiastic service is Games Workshop... and well, there you don't want any.

    Question from a newbie

I think the Pacific is an excellent choice, in that it gives you all the bigness and impressive looks of the golden age of steam without the necessity of having to plan your railroad around it. Also, the ability to run tighter curves than your design specs call for is always welcome when you...

2 things I think should be done in HO...

Well, I have. The Razor trains are about 3-4 times as high as they are wide, lack most standard train features and tend to travel very, very fast. Probably crewed by something non-human, too. A Combine railroad would probably be best kept as a single small guardpost in a post-apocalyptic...

2 things I think should be done in HO...

Hm, it's not exactly standard modelling fare, but making a Combine-themed model railroad would be a truly unique project. I wonder if anyone's ever made a layout based entirely on a pre-existing fictional setting.

    Your Favorite HO Scale Manufacturer?

I'm going to go the uncultured Euro way (being one), and say Fleischmann. Just bought one of their express train cars from the 1950s, one which the seller swore was in perfect operating condition and ought to last another 50 years without issue. I've never had a mechanical or electronic fault...

    first train set

That has got to be the height of serendipity!

2 things I think should be done in HO...

Man, that's one big train... Since we're on the subject of wishlists, I'd like to see more armored and speciality trains. Perhaps even fictional ones, like the Combine Razortrains from Half-Life 2.

    Question from a newbie

Has to be the Big Boy's articulation, yeah. They probably made a fair bit of compromises to make it run on most domestic railroads. It's always best to take recommendations with a pinch of salt. For example, the Bachmann DDA40X can't negotiate its "recommended" 24" alone, and I think it'd...
