    My Father's Illness

Jon, your father will always be with you. My father died when I was a boy and sometimes I feel him with me when I'm working on the house...something I remember him doing. Your father was blessed with a very accomplished life and a loving family...he certainly will always be with you. God bless...

Seen any good structures to Model anywhere

Here's some views of the Erie mainline station in Hawthorne, NJ. I used to hang out here as a kid and play on these tracks with the other neighborhood kids. Drove our parents sick with fear and worry! When the street grade crossing with the Erie tracks was eliminated in the late 40s, the street...

Seen any good structures to Model anywhere

Small Station Good Morning, Crew! These photos were taken by my father in the early 60s. The Hawthorne, NJ NYS&W station is still there and looks the same. I was in it once as a boy and it's been one of my favorite small stations. Note the location...right up against the street! The crossing...

    train collision

I take it that there are no rockslide detectors along that section of track? I know they're used by roads in other sections of the country, but if the boulder bounced out and away from the embankment and then onto the tracks, a slide detector wouldn't have been activated.

    New Baldwin Class B Model

Hey, Jet... Yeah, I have to get a couple of 70 tonners myself. I'm interested to see if John over at AMB LaserKit comes out with parts for it like he did for the 40 ton GE steeple cab. This will be my medium duty road switcher. I'm still trying to figure out what to get for my fast 'n heavy...

It's MONDAY 11-29-04, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Good Afternoon, Crew! I've been trying to get at my RR room in the basement (counts towards modeling, right? ;) ). I Dry-Locked the stone and mortar walls about 3 years ago and it needed a couple of spot patches. I have had a dividing wall with basic wiring in since early spring and now I...

    Diesel Suggestions

I'm with you on the early diesels. The NW2 switcher would be another great selection. I found an undec Kato model on eBay, painted, and lettered it for the Erie. BLI has a PRR NW2, but the price is up there at $179.00 MSRP. I have two of the P1K RS2s in Erie awaiting the addition of correct...

    Paint thinner for Floquil?

Jim's right, Loco. I've heard Floquil described as an enamel, but it works well with high-quality lacquer thnners. I've used Sherwin-Williams automotive lacquer thinner and I almost always use acetone now except for Scale Coat. The acetone dries out faster and makes cleaning up easy, too.

It's MONDAY 11-15-04, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Good Morning, Crew! I started in on my 'forgotton project' project. I have a number of 90% (or less) completed projects that need to be finished up so that I can get them off of the bench and packed away. A tank car that needs one last decal and a coat of flat lacquer. A caboose that...
