    Great Find!

Here she is- showing me how slow she can make it run... She loved it! She asked me to build her a table for it to go in her room. I figure it's a good time to teach her how to make some scenery (and a good excuse to make some buildings in HO). Merry Christmas everyone!

    Great Find!

While at Garden Ridge the other day- I was searching through the clearance section (a usual habit of mine).... I found an HO train set (Bachmann) marked "Does not work" and priced at $8. So I bought it.... I don't model HO and had no clue what may be wrong, but figured I could salvage...

    Were you from...?

I am a semi-active member here and quite a few other forums-... I say semi-active because I read far more than I post. But I have to say.... This is by far my favorite forum to both read and participate in.

Anyone Use "Foam In a Can" For Scenery??

I have seen a few people that used it on their models. One guy had a great step by step picture guide of how he used it to build his mountains.... Unfortunately, I can not locate his web page. Great Stuff has listed as one of their "100's of uses for Great Stuff": Craft and hobbyists...

    Modern residential streets? How wide?

I was thinking something along those lines. Either steel bridges or possibly just a raised earth berm. I'm not entirely sure just yet. I love this idea. I can't wait to get started on it and can't wait to start detailing it. Thanks for the positive feedback guys.

using real water (sealing river bottom)

I just had a thought..... I have no idea if this would work, but have you thought about using Great Stuff (expanding foam) as your scenery base? It is supposed to be waterproof, it is carvable and paintable.

    Modern residential streets? How wide?

Here's a quick drawing I did on what I am thinking. It will be a basic NTrak module- 2'x4'. No special tricks with the track or anything. The light blue on the top behind the mountain line will be the back side of some warehouse type buildings... Heading down, after the mountain line will be...

    Modern residential streets? How wide?

Thanks for the replies. I am thinking about doing a 2'x4' module that will be a residential neighborhood. My girlfriend was looking through a catalog and she thinks it would be cool to do.... Any time I can get her involved enough to want me to do something with the trains.... I'll jump all...

    Modern residential streets? How wide?

Also.... How far (typically) from the road are railroad tracks?

    Modern residential streets? How wide?

I am looking at building a modern residential area on my layout. I have added a poorly drawn picture of the type of area I am talking about. What I need are dimensions: How wide are typical roads like these? How wide are the medians? How about the turn lane? Sidewalks...

    Griswold United Church

If you ever decided to draw your plans out- maybe even write a book on cardboard structure building- You could make a lot of money. I know it's a book that I'd have in my collection. You have a lot of talent, and I am glad you choose to share it with us.

    Griswold United Church

Robin- I have silently enjoyed you work on here for quite some time.... I just needed to add- Never assume we will be bored by the details. I have learned quite a bit from your construction threads- I always look forward to seeing your progress. Now if you would just put the designs on a...

    Does anyone know this outfit?

I have ordered from Internettrains a couple of times with mixed results. The first time was a large order- $300+ I had no problems with that... it got here quick and with no problems. The last time was a small order- about $20. I called after 10 days and they hadn't shipped yet. They...

    N-Track inside corners?

Here is where my problem lies..... I have a 12'x12' room that i will be filling. I decided to go modular so that I could work on piece by piece- adding new ones when I get the chance. Here's a semi-overview of my plan: What the plan is (right now at least) is to start by building...

    N-Track inside corners?

I appreciate it. I wish I could go with your first suggestion... but space just won't allow it. The second with the radius's helps a lot though. I have been driving myself nuts trying to figure out a way to make these fit standards in my space.... but then I realized.... The only reason I...

    N-Track inside corners?

Has anyone made inside corners for an N-Trak layout? With the design I am going to try to build, I will need 2 3'x3' corners to complete a "U" shaped turn around. See drawing for idea of what I'm talking about: Has anyone made these? What kind of turn radius can I get doing this...

    using styrofoam

This is exactly what I'm about to do. I plan on making framing out of 1'x4's with 1'x2' cross braces, and the foam will set inside the frame. I have a page bookmarked at the house where someone went step by step on how they did this... Maybe I can find it tonight and post the link.

So.... I guess it's just me that uses the back of the toilet to store their magazines?!?
