    DCC in a Bach On30 0-4-0 Porter?

In defence of the original 0-4-0's, From the word go, I swapped out the plunger springs for those from the Kadee freight trucks part # 622s if I remember right. mine are still going strong. It was during the replacement of these springs I decided these lokies were never gonna go DCC when I...

    My On30 Shay

For those of you would like to modify/paint their Shay with out having to destroy all that plumbing - here's how I removed my bodywork in one piece with out destroying the look....... Actually the removal is quite simple. Use a scalpel or thin blade to dislodge both the seats. Now turn the loco...

About tme you saw some of my work

    1) Hadn't thought about guttering - will have a look at the Grandtline catologue to see what's available. 2) That Shay is a Climax and the stack came straight off a Bachmann OF 2-8-0 - just needed a longer screw to secure. 3) Weathering - woss dat? nothing else is weathered on the proposed...

pros and cons of each dcc manufacture system

Probably the biggest con is that it has no computer interface. secondly any firmware upgrades means sending it back. I've only just got mine - after initial teething problems ( me, not the system) I like it a lot especially the round knob throttle which I find easier to use.

Where do you get your Logging Stuff?

This one is for UK Listers. My local hobby shop ' Wakefield Model and Craft Centre' must have the cheapest prices in UK for 0n30 stuff - their web site is: https://vault1.secured-url.com/model/, it's fairly new so the bachmann stuff is not up there yet - worth giving them a call to see what's...

    Questions from a Newbie...

Wait til you try to remove the lettering off the new OF 2-8-0 - damn near impossible! Worse, it's placed right along the rivet line. I lost a few rivets in my attempts on the first one. The second one got painted over! Walton Logging Line ? Goodnight Johnboy, Good night Elizabeth! Plenty of...

    BAchmann Railtruck

I got mine from my local hobby shop in the UK last week - not the one I wanted, but at his price too good an opprtunity to pass by. Qick lick of paint and it's just what I wanted. Really nice model and a good runner, although I've only run mine on DCC. Regards David(UK)

    Ready to take the plunge

Your question is clear, but I don't know the answer! However, I have the PA and it runs my Bachmann and BLI locos just fine - yard work is excruciatingly slow, you can time the rotation of the Drivers! There is a mode you can switch to that allows the control knob to be used as a reverse/forward...

    Minimum turn radius (shay/climax)

The practical Operating radius for the Shay is 18" - the minimum reported radius is 15" The practical Operating radius for the Climax is 18" - the minimum reported radius is 12" You'll need to set your track centres at 3" apart. No major problems with either locos, except that the Shay surges as...
