New Factory On The 4 Sisters Branch

I think a loading dock anywhere should look as grungy as possible. The only pristeen ones I've ever seen are newly built ones! Bob

New Factory On The 4 Sisters Branch

Charlie, leave those splatters alone. How many docks have you seen that have stains on the side where the trucks got too close or someone poured out their coffee or coke! :D :D Bob

i need switch help for my new layout

While attending our local GATS show this weekend, I noticed that one of our club members had solved the problem of mounting under-the-table switches on foam. He glued a strip of ¼ plywood to the bottom of the foam, mounted his engines on that and ran about a 4½ piece of wire through the foam...

i need switch help for my new layout

There are "under-the-table" switch machines available commercially. You can modify the actual throw bar to make it long enough to go through the foam and throw the switch. The only difficulty I see is mounting the switch machine onto the foam. Bob

    This un's for Catt

It looks pretty good. With color ink-jet printers and heavier card stock, anyone should be able to put together some kind of building for minimal cost. Bob

    Industrial Cars

Industrial Rail is an O27 company breaking into N-Scale. Here is their web address: http://www.industrialrail.com/ . The bodies are good for $3.00, but the trucks need to be changed out. The axels are made of soft plastic and warp in heat. :o Bob

    Why N guage .....

I, too, started out in HO. I even had a nice HO layout running in my trainroom on a 30' x 3' area. Then a friend of mine gave me a heap of N-Scale. Oh, in the neighborhood of 60 engines and 500 cars or so. I almost built a little N-Scale layout on the opposite wall of my train room, but then...

Looks like an interesting place. I am a transplanted Texan, originally from Copperas Cove.

    FRED's

Evidently, MRL and some others are testing this remote process. I think it is mainly used for yard work, allowing operators to run the process by remote control. I believe UP and BNSF tested this concept in the '80s and '90s using slugs and hand held remote controls. What MRL seems to be...

    FRED's

Hmmm, let's see. Last Saturday, I ran a string of containers behind two Dash-9's and an SD40-2; 10 cattle cars behind a 4-6-2; and, of course, Thomas the Tank Engine. My interests cover all eras. I'd run a steam buggy if I could find one. I just like to be accurate in whatever trains I run...

    FRED's

Thanks, Billk; I haven't found the auction yet where the cars are being sold, but I have pre-ordered the book from Amazon and checked out Aztec. Bob :D

    FRED's

I'm looking for FRED's. Does anyone out there know of a manufacturer that makes them in N-Scale? Does anyone have a parts list and schematic for making your own? My enquiring mind wants to know. Bob

1st layout recommendations for a newbie

Double Tracking One thing you might want to consider is double tracking with some crossover's at strategic spots. With a 78" door, you can put a nice little yard in part of it, also.
