    Welcome to the new board

Oh, oh. Too much fun. I may never go home. :D One caution. When using color, blue on blue is hard to read.

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

Lance, Thanks for the kind words. It is a project both fun and frustrating. After all, how many of us get to model in one-to-one scale? The frustrating side is obtaining parts when needed, as well as the usual shortage of time and money. I work as a tour guide at the DRM every other...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

The cab was boarded up and a few removable items were taken off for the trip from Georgia to Connecticut. This was a precaution against any parts "growing legs" enroute. No pictures of the interior yet. I will shoot some at the first opportunity. I am told the engine will run. However, we...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

Just received a little info on the numbering of this RS-11. The origanal number assigned to it by NH, 1402, lasted until Conrail changed it to 7589. The RS-11 album: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=76905&a=13398290&f=0 ------------------ My photo albums...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

In case any of you have tried looking at the RS-11 pictures, or any other of my albums for that matter, and had trouble - the host site, PhotoPoint was down for about four days, beginning last Friday. They are back and my pictures are again accessible. ------------------ My photo albums...

    O scale layout web site

Let me add my welcome. You have some nice work going on there. I like that you decided not to wait until the layout was finished to show us some pictures. I like seeing unfinished work that can teach me something more about the underlying construction. ------------------ My photo albums...

    Goodbye to all

I can't say it any better that others already have, but I do want to add my best wishes. Your contributions to the arts of model railroading and photography are valued by us. I do hope you are departing with a round-trip ticket in hand. ------------------ My photo albums...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

I just added seven more pictures to the special RS-11 album. Here is the URL for the whole album. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=76905&a=13398290&f=0 Check back from time to time. I will be adding more pictures as the restoration work starts. The link in the signature block...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

Right you are, Woodie. The last owner didn't treat her too kindly. She was used in a gravel pit. I guess some would call it a mine. The trucks she is sittin on aren't her own. We swapped in a set from a PA-1, which would make it easier to tow. Her own trucks rode do Danbury on a JTTX flat...

If you click on the URL below, then go to my new album, "Danbury RR Mus. RS-11," you can see some of the first pictures or 1402 after arrival in the DRM yard. Come back often. More pictures will be added later. ------------------ My photo albums...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

It is finally home. Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, I was on board RS-11 #1402 (the original NH number) as it was towed from the Danbury Railway Museum's rail entrance gate into the middle of the yard. The power was supplied by the DRM's RS-1. I will have pictures of the...

    Track Incompatibility?

I believe you might find transition track or joiners in the Atlas catalog. If not there, Walthers should list some. However, I agree with Shamus. For the most reliable operation, it is probably best to change the track. ------------------ My photo albums...

    Another one bites the dust

It is no longer a free site, but PhotoPoint is still the best one for me. I don't do auctions, but there are web sites and individuals with interests other than railroading who link to my pictures. I did check out several other sites and found everyone to fall short of meeting my needs. Many...

    sad news

The good memories live on. We are saddened by Tim's passing, but consider ourselves fortunate to have some of those good memories right here on this board. Peirce

    Off the tracks

Since you said "...apart from Model Railroads," I guess being a tour guide at a railway museum is slightly apart. Of course, that could also be viewed as just another scale, 1 to 1. Actually, photography is a serious second hobby. I have been in and out of the pro ranks there in the past...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

Great find. Can't do much better that an actual photo of the original paint scheme. Is that book still readily available? If it is, I'm thinking it should be available at the DRM gift shop. Added info: (6/22/2001 The referenced book IS avail at the DRM gift shop. ------------------ My...

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

Actually, Dave, I may have asked you that same question somewhere, some time. I have not heard anything that could even remotely be considered official as yet. Does anyone have any information about its "as delivered" paint scheme? This might be one choice for the repaint job.

New Haven RS-11 is coming home.

A lot of people are getting itchy waiting. Lets look on the bright side, however. CSX does plan to do the repair. I just hope the price to the DRM is right--$00.00. If it is, we should be grateful. The wait will be worth it. ------------------ My photo albums...
