    Great Smokey Mountain Railroad

Yes, I took that ride a couple of weeks ago. It was a great 4.5-hour trip in 70 to 80 degree weather.

Over The River and Through The Woods...

This picture gives me the idea I would like to be on that train. ;) Great picture, well balanced. I like the clarity of the reflections in the water.

    All sorts of Stations

This one is, in my opinion, the least interesting from a design point of view, but is is a modern commuter station. It is the Metro North station in Danbury, CT. I present it for those who might be modeling a modern commuter railroad. Recently Metro North, as a budget cutting measure...

    A Proud Scene

Wow! Great angle. The day we were there the trail to the spot from which your picture was taken was closed due to ice.

    A Proud Scene

I agree. That flag was not put there for any other reason than to inspire us, at any time, in my opinion. We should not need a war to be patriotic.

    All sorts of Stations

I didn't shoot the whole building, in this case, because it was the nighttime lighting I was interested in showing. This is the Lakawanna Station in Scranton, PA. The same view during the day.

    All sorts of Stations

This Bessemer, Alabama, station is now the city's historic museum. The tracks to the right of the fence are still very active with an average of at least one freight per hour (NS)and two Amtrak passenger trains per day. Street-side view.

    All sorts of Stations

Here are two views of the station at Gaylordsville, CT, on the Housatonic RR. It was built as a combination station and hotel. It is now a smal museum. This is the roadside view. And trackside. The track, barely visible on the far left of the picture, is still an active freight line.

    Grandson and train show

Greg touched on a point I believe should be given greater emphasis. That is, young people, such as your grandson, when they do good things, don't get enough public recognition. You and your grandson are the kind of role models our society very much needs. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, that is what they called it--a monorail.

At the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair: This is part of a slide program I shot during the two years of the Fair. The camera I was using then was a Rolleiflex T, which uses 120 film. The film was all High Speed Ektachrome, which has lasted through the years in excellent condition...

    Sign of Spring

She's not all that young, Shamus. She did attract the attention of another railfan. Another sign of spring. (She is trying to catch the glare of the sun off a rail in this pix.)

    Sign of Spring

A sure sign of Spring is when railfans return to their Northern habitat. Here is one that turned up at the Danbury Railway Museum last Wednesday. Camera: Nikon Coolpix 995 Settings - Shutter Priority Shutter: 1/125 sec. White Balance: Cloudy Focus: Auto ISO: 100

Gotta agree. Those shots have a classic vintage look.
