    Were you from...?

I am not sure, either, how I first landed here, but I never had any regrets. It is easier to say why I stay. Mainly it is because of the intelligent and caring company.

Congratulations, first, go to the founders of The Gauge and a hearty "thank-you" for all the hard work getting it started and keedping it going. Next, congratulations and thanks, to all those in the roles of moderators and administrators. who keep us on the smooth track and not let us get lost...

    back at the gauge

Welcome both you and your son back on board. He is a beartiful youngster. It is gratifying to hear the hospital and NS have gone out of their way for him. These extra happy moments can be as good a therapy the medications. As long as he has good things like that to look forward to, he'll...

    Isn't it funny.

It seems like the wife stays awake at night just thinking up new items to put on the "honeydew" list.

    Been Havin' Some Troubles

Charlie, I'm with you all the way. The strong determination you have demonstrated will get you through. Of course, it helps to have a group such as this behind you. It worked for me when I was diagnosed with cancer almost two years ago (its just about totally gone, now) and when my wife had...

    mad at ebay!!!

I agree with those who say it is all part of the auction game. Sometimes I have won, and sometimes I have lost. The whole point is, I decide what my maximum will be and how much I want the item before placing my bid. If I am beat, I know some else was willing to pay a higher price...

    railimages

This should only be a temporary problem. In my opinion, growing pains. So far as I have been able to find out, the message is true. The administrators have arranged to obtain greater bandwidth and requested the access be turned on again. I don't know how long this will take, but it should...

    Off-line for Surgery

My best wishes to your wife and to you. I know exactly how you both must feel. I have been away, too. My wife had nine inches of her aorta replace with an artificial tube about three weeks ago. I have been in OJT as a home care nurse :( . I just returned to work this week.

    off the subject

I have received several of these "Microsoft" messages, did a virus scan on a couple of them, just to confirm my suspicions. When they came up as virus carriers, I deleted them. The foreign diplomat ones seem to come and go. They are pure scam.

    son hobby

The problem of lack of response or even simple acknowledgement is not unique here. Those of us who are members of sites specializing in photo albums find it all too rare when some signs the guest book or leaves a comment.

    Train related deaths

I volunteer as a tour guide at the Danbury Railway Museum. It surprised me how many times, when my tour is in the cab of our E9, that I am asked, "How do you steer this thing." It is not always kids that are doing the asking. So, I can imaging some Darwin Award candidate assuming the train...

    Train Movies of note

"Strangers on a Train" - Hitchcock - 1950 All the station shots were taken on location at the Danbury, CT, Union Station, which is now the Danbury Railway Museum.

    Our local Train store

I was there last Spring. Your pictures are great, but can only give us a sample of what you will see on a live visit. Combine this with a ride on the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad and you will have a great experience. Just to tease you a little more: The GSMR engineer is returning to...

Cool bridge and buildings in NY state.

You are not too far from where I used to live until 1989, Ringwood. We did a lot of our shopping at Wayne Hills Mall. I worked in Franklin Lakes until I've Been Moved decided I should live in Connecticut.

That looks like a fun project that could catch on. Just think how The Gauge log would look on one of these bags.

    Railimages and dread "X"

The TrainBoard people are, indeed, working on a replacement for Railimages. A possible software package is being tested right now. I can't say anything about it yet, since no decision has been made that this is the package that will be used. Whatever they choose, however, I believe you will...
