Well, I think at modelshipworld you could have a field day! One reference for download includes all the lines and old names dating back to 1796 Steel's reference on rigging, lots of old names and literary styles there!

main mast details, front fish, cheeks to the hounds and wood hoops and rope wooldings. The card fish were watercolored to match the mast, but the hoops are card from the kit. Working to prepare the masts for the shrouds. The trim on the hull and permanent fixture of the chainplates and details...

Hi Elliott! Well the 3mm blocks now seem rediculously expensive to me to purchase, so I'm mass producing them like this http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee248/birdergv/IMG_2287.jpg I have only purchased one text, but downloaded one and one I studied from the library. First, local library...

Thanks Beachead! Fortunately there is repetition and some sense eventually when the learning curve is attempted. Complicating things is the fact that different time periods has different rigging styles. Books are a must. It is fun, though.

I hope to share your enjoyment, from my perspective seems rather daunting..progress on guns, shed the breech rope as it looked too stout for scale, and added lots of stuff to the guns for more rigging options, guntackle and train tackle if I dare...

I've started in rigging the great guns, not sure how much detail would be visable under the walkway and boat racks, so starting out with a stout bolt rope and eyes as part of the gun in RN style http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee248/birdergv/IMG_2281.jpg

Eib, I agree, all that work, however, in my personal view (for what that may be worth:confused:) is that the boats are not that bad. You may be surprised at that, but really I like them. Sure a touch of latex putty and paint would shine up the hulls, but I don't think they're that bad. ps: I...

I'm building a Gremir p-40 and looked at the Merlin model and compared to the Allison. It is possible to make some small changes and make the merlin look similar to the allison, especially if only part of the engine is exposed. I have the Merlin downloaded if you want it

Eib, those could be dressed up easily enough, I would have no hesitation myself to do so, but since I'm doing a sailing ship presently I have lost all intent to make everything out of paper. Impossible. Lines? Decent masts? Oh well, I guess I shouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater, but...

Cleopatra progress. The masts are made of walnut, may be a little dark as unfinished presently. Propped them up and into lower trestletrees just to see proportions she may have soon http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee248/birdergv/IMG_2152.jpg...

Here's where she sits at present. Would like to rig guns but waiting for blocks to arrive to see if they may be small enough to use for the gun tackle. will be making eye bolts large ones for the bolt rope and lots of little ones. Can use the eyebolt on the gun itself because it's wood and can...
