    Not one piece of track laid or benchwork built and already very frustrated. Due to size of room i will be using N scale.     layout

    Still deciding on layout and benchwork. I can use the corner which is 5'x 6' or place a rectangle bench in middle of room with acess to all sides. Any ideas? Even thought about a U shaped design. Looking for most bang for the buck here .

    I have read on some boards about problems with N scale derailment. How does one just starintg out avoid this? Is it caused by bad track laying,engines,or design? Also what are those numbers you see such as 0-8-0 ,0-4-0?

    Thank's to all who answered my pervious questions. I now see that finding the hobby was the easy part picking the scale and layout is just the begining. This weekend i will go to hobby shop not close to me, and pick up some books and do some homework.
