The Last of "A Day on the A & T"

This will be the last in my series from “A Day on the A & T”. The return trains to Alpine would be a bit redundant. But for those of you who have taken a look you have pretty much seen how an operating session on the A. & T. R.R. is accomplished. It takes from three to four real time hours to...

Your Module Bill, Wow! I thought for sure that “face” was intentional. At any rate it adds a bit of mystique to your mountains. Really nice work and your packaging for transporting is really slick!:thumb:

NTrak module 98% complete - phew!

Your Module Bill, Really excellent work, the trees, the structures, the placement of figures, the background, the rock work…….all just terrific! That rock work above the river, to the right of the fallen pine…….is that “Face” intentional? I see a chin, mouth, nose, eyes, and a forehead, too...

    modelpower track?

M.P. Flex Track LR&BRR, I have 4 or 5 full length sections I used in a staging yard, works fine. BUT, cosmetically it leaves a bunch to be desired and I can't really say how well it holds gauge when being bent into a curve radius.

    Robert Guyett has passed away

Shawn, My sincerest condolences. My father and I also shared the model railroading hobby. I lost my Father way back in 1972 and I am now a year older than he was when he passed away. Perhaps it would be of some comfort for you to know that even after all of these years some of my fondest and...

    Bachmann conversion to a 4-8-2 U1e

4-8-2 Dan, Thanks for the feedback. I believe it would also be fine for my layout. I'm just glad we "suddenly" have all of these great running steam engines. I have also been contemplating your "Secret Weapon" idea but with the traction driver sets on my 'Mikes', Bachmann's 2-8-0's pulling...

    Bachmann conversion to a 4-8-2 U1e

Your 4-8-2 Really nice job! Your engine looks just right in that setting. :thumb: There has been a lot of chatter about this locomotive’s pulling ability, what is your experience with it? I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting one but several folks have not had too many good things to...

The “Cat Pause” mine is about five miles back on the main. OT-1 swapped it’s empties for loads at the mine but must come to Terlingua...

    A Day On The A & T - Terlingua

It is a hot, sunny, late morning down in Terlingua, Texas. The passenger run from Alpine is due in a few minutes. The folks waiting to greet friends, associates and loved ones keep to the shady and somewhat cooler area under the station’s overhang. Baggage carts and the REA truck are at the...

    power problems

Velmo Do the trains run at all? Is it a new Power Pack? Did it come with your train in a set? Does the train run fast some places and slow at other places? Is the locomotive new? Are the wheels clean? Does the locomotive run "smoothly" but slowly or does it run slow and...

    Finally finished track in Yard

Your Yards Clerk, Looking Good! Very busy place, I can smell the diesel oil. Nice roundhouse, is that a 24/7 operation? I've heard it takes a lot to keep those "Geeps" out on the main. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

    New Bachmann 4-8-2

4-8-2 Ron, Sorry to hear that. Not all that impressive - that is for sure! It would be nice to hear how other owners weigh in on this engine. I guess the Bachmann site would be best for that. It is sure enough a beauty but it will have to pull better than that to attract any buyers. Please...
