    Help me choose some industries

Another small industry is a canned pet food manufacturer. When I worked for one in the '80s, we could ship as many as 10 railcars a day. Just a small to medium size building with a single siding would be enough to represent a smaller manufacturer. We had three spurs and still fit in less than...

Been a while since we had a....

Here's my very first kitbash, done in the '60's. It started out with the cupola centered. Following an article in MR, I moved the cupola to one end, shaved the molded on hand rails, formed new ones from wire, and added a roof walk. It's not in very good shape as it has been following me...

Time for...... What are you doing??????

Rob, I can relate to your feelings. I'm one of those who much prefers to be outdoors when the temperature reaches 70. On the other hand, being retired allows me to be outside quite a bit and still have time for the trains. Best of both worlds, IMHO. Tom

GGGRRRRRRR, DUST!!! What do you do about it?

Aside from all the helpful advice that's already been provided, may I offer a couple of suggestions. 1. The compressed air simply lifts the dust off the layout. Unless you have a dust collector, it will settle back on to the layout. 2. Is your ceiling finished? If not, you could try that...

    What a MESS

Peter, in a couple of your posts, you mention new features. Please don't take the time to list them now but after the dust settles, could you or one of the Admins take a moment to list them? Thanks again for all your hard work, both Peter and the rest of the Admins. Tom

Which HO Track do you use a majority of?

I use Atlas code 83 track and switches. Next time, I may hand lay the switches. I really don't like the Atlas frogs or hinged point rails. Tom

    What a MESS

Two things: 1. Way to go, Peter! Excellent work in moving to the new software. I know how hard it can be. 2. I come here for the people, not the way the forum looks. Tom

See what my wife has to put up with

A formal living room is for entertaining people you don't like. That's why there is no tv and the chairs are uncomfortable. Tom

    DDA40X on the loose!

As some of you may be aware, the UP DDA40X was on the prowl this week. Many thanks to Dave Harison of the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry for giving people the heads up. I journeyed to nearby Boone, IA, to watch for it to arrive. I arrived plenty early so I took a few snaps, most of...
