    Replacement wheels

Jorge, I was also told to replace the plastic wheels (rail contamination) and found intermountain has the best product. Other brands didn't fit properly with the various truck styles. Take care, Jim

    Circuits for Model railroads

Converting a pulsed DCC waveform into a polarized DCvoltage level would allow for both light signals (bi-levvel LED mounted into a signal block) or a semiphore signal. Ciould also be used to indicate track polarity (direction) especially when the track is out of sight (tunnels or behind...

    Circuits for Model railroads

Mikey, thanks for posting the circuit site. I will use the rectifier bridge using schotsky diodes regulate the DCC wave form thereby allowing me to put bi-color LED's across the rails to indicate the polarity (train direction). This is especially useful when the track is broken into various...

    A Few Plaster Questions...

In New England, we used 'scratchcoat' also called 'undercoat' plaster as the initial layer of plaster applied to 'blue board' sheetrock. It can be purchased at masonry supply stores. I'm still working on my rock formations and have used hydrocal, scratchcoat and finish plaster. As Shamus says...

    peco turnouts

For HO Scale, I believe #4, #6, & #8 reflect small, medium & large respectively. I don't think the scale would change the referece between # and radii. Hope this helps. Jim

    Peco Turnout machines

Hi Don, I've installed over 100 tortoise/Peco combinations without any problem. In a few cases the turnout 'flipped' slowly and I moved the 'T' bar that David mentioned. Sliding the tee bar will reduce the spring tension. This is a great Peco feature, but I didn't read about this function...

    Another scratchbuilt structure

Shamus, you got me in trouble. I showed your workmanship to my wife and now she wants one on our layout. You sure set high standards. I'm new to the hobby (2 yrs) and have only seen a few photo's of John Allen's work but the skill required to accomplish this caliber of work is exceptional...

    hoppers

Tankerhead, Thanks for the recommendation. It took me this long to reply because I initially looked up MDC in the Walthers catalog but didn't find a listing. I didn't recognized NDC was the manufacturer of Roundhouse hoppers till today. I'll look out for good sale prices...

    styrofoam rockwork

Great work; thanks for sharing. I'm still trying to 'master' the plaster technique and your photo has helped me mix up a few more batches. The good new is that I'm gewtting better, the bad news is that I have a long way to go. This is the hardest phase of the project for me and as you say, it...

    rock formation

Pete, Thanks for your recommendations. I've been pretty successful hand carving a granite section (12" x 10"). [Small sections for little skills]. Also went back after the plaster was semi-hard and scrapped off the tell tale tool marks. On the addition of real rocks I was planning to use...
